my system is
athlon 2000+ xp
msi kt4 ultra motherboard
msi geforce 4mx 440 8x
samsung 550s 15" monitor
windows xp professional edition

sometimes after installing a program or a game or just nothing, i restart my pc the boot up screen shakes or flicks a lot. even in windows it flicks a little. then when i restart again there is no flicking. i set my refresh rate to 75hz from optimal 85hz. but nothing changed. i use 800X600 resulution in 85hz refresh rate usually. whats wrong?

ever give a thought of it beign hardware? My old monitor does that, well it still does. To get it to stop, I either hit it on the sides, or the top front. I know, it sounds bad, but there is something lose in the back and Im far to lazy to fix it. So I just hit it until it stops.

Hi,

One thing to check - make sure there are no transformers/PSU's lying around next to/behind/on top of the monitor. Been many the cause of a nasty flicker where I work.

Cheers,

Andy

Don't forget that speakers too close to your monitor can cause that problem too...but I'm guessing this is more of a monitor problem...
