Flexo wrap pet sleeving question

Hello,
Has anyone installed Flexo wrap pet sleeving? I'm looking to purchase a 5' length from www.svc.com. I was wondering if anyone has had any installing experience? I'm a newbe at this, but I have modded my case in some respects(ie. installed a case fan with a dremmel). SVC does offer the less expensive Flexo pet sleeving, but I don't want to deal with removing the molex plugs. Any advise would be appreciated.

I use it on the main PSU ATX connector with the 20 wires. It works fine but you have to seal off the ends so it doesn't unravel. I use a lighter to "cauterize" them right after I cut a piece to length. The ATX cable in this picture is covered with a piece of SVC flexo-wrap. I positioned the velcro closure to the back side so that it doesn't show. Note that I covered the ends with black heatshrink when I was done.

i've done it to my PSU. removing the molex connectors was not very hard but took a very long time because i just used a screwdriver rather than an extraction tool. i had a little trouble burning the sleeving because i put the flame too close to it but you quickly learn

I installed the exact stuff onto my PSU wires (except the ATX mobo connector - that is a later project). I used the heatshrink also. To melt the heatshrink I put a soldering iron up against the heatshrink. Since the ends of the sleeving tend to fray, I melted them together with a lighter. I also used a screwdriver, because I didn't feel like buying a extraction tool. But I grabbed an old PSU and practiced first, and I did mess up a lot, but I kept re-doing it until I learned (I had most of my trouble with the molex connectors). And make sure to buy a lot of extra in case you cut it too short, etc!

Are you people insane? Using lighters as a heat source to shrink wrap? Crazy! They do sell this thing called a heat gun. It's similar to a hair dryer but you can add focus tips for more localized heating. I can see why you have to buy a lot of extra!

Why not, lighters work fine and who has $20+ for a heat gun, not I says me the poor college student. I bought mine direct from the company and removed all the molex connectors using a screwdriver. I didn't practice, just have tons of light so you can actually see what you are doing. There are two flexible tabs that you are pushing in, usually just pushing one in will be enough. I wrap the 4 metal pieces that are removed from the molex connector in electrical tap so they don't wreck part of the sleeving. Slide your heatshrink pieces on and shrink and it will look great.

True true, but at the time I didn't feel like spending the extra money, after building the new system left my computer funding nearly broke . But I tested it many times on old power supplys and wires, and got a good method down (like amount of time, closeness etc). After testing on the old PSUs and wires, I would cut along the middle of the heatshrink and rip it off to see if the wires were damaged (to see if my method worked). At first they had scortch marks, but then my method improved, and it worked fine.
