Fleetwood Mac

Listening to Live in Boston atm. This album, and Then Play On are orders of magnitude better than any of the later stuff.

When Peter Green was in it?

When Lindsey and Stevie joined they became more Top 40 but in the late 70's early 80's that's what was popular. The Blues style of the Old Fleetwood Mac wouldn't have been as popular then as it was in the late 60's early 70's.

I also like them when Welch was fronting for them.

Welch was good too -- I like the Mystery to Me album.

Really they were a pretty great band no matter who was in it, at least up until the mid 80s.

I really like Lindsey but FM just never was the same without Green.

His solo stuff before he went batshit insane is also really good.

There's a bunch of good clips on YouTube. I'm kind of surprised, but I guess I shouldn't be. Ain't the internet great? :^)

Check out the shows on wolfgang's vault. They're insane, especially the highest rated one with "worried dream".

Stevie Nicks wrote better lyrics and had a far more distinctive voice than her predecessors. FM was just another blues band until she arrived. Sorry.

Her voice sounds like a cat being slowly tortured 🙂

70's Stevie, on Fleetwood Mac and Rumours and even Tusk is ok, but around 1980-81 her voice suddenly got a lot worse for some reason.

("some reason" = cocaine)

They were just another blues band in the same way Stevie Ray Vaughn was just another blues guitarist ;^)

No they were just another blues band in a dime a dozen kind of way, which is exactly how blues should be anyway. Not an insult to them per se.

Pullllease on Christine McVie...

Christine McVie had as many hits as Stevie Nicks when they were in Fleetwood Mac. Some of her songs went higher in the charts. Stevie Nicks really did much better after Fleetwood Mac, but not with Fleetwood Mac.
