He must not be a real Canadian, we can handle the cold!

I agree, he must be an impostor. I would run his name against a couple of databases to see if he really exists.

OP, just make sure that when you approach this Canuck, you use small words and talk slowly. He is, after all, a Canadian. It is also helpful to use ice hockey or curling vocabulary. For example, tell him that the living room is "offsides".

I would say just flat out tell him as a group its not acceptable to not only sleep on the couch but to raise the bill, unless he wants to pay for the entire heating. But if they are raising the heat, then they should have no reason to sleep on the couch anyway...

Just sit next to him and make sarcastic comments about him continuously until he leaves, rinse and repeat.

btw, who owns the couch? Constant sleeping on it (unless he's using sheets) will fuck it up.

I have considered the passive-aggressive approach but I don't think it's going to be the most effective.

I just think that is step 1. You should never have accommodated this behavior. He's going to need a talking to, but it should be clear on all levels that he is being a douche.

Why not just turn the TV on and wake him up whenever you feel like it? If he is in the shared space, he has no right to privacy...

How many are there living in your apartment? You mention "the girls".

QFT...OP still disagree that your own place would solve this crap?

If it was your own place you could still have dudes sleeping on your couch when you wanted, yet ask them to leave when you don't.

mother fucking profit!

I personally would start using said TV at night and such regardless of if he's there. If he bitches tell him to GTFO of the room that isn't his. Same with the girls. Words apparently don't mean anything, so it's time to annoy him into doing what he's supposed to.

You know what you do?

You grow a fucking pair!

Shit! If he wants to run your shared "penis heat pump" all the time, who cares? Just make him pay the difference in the bill, or beat the shit out of him and kick him out.

0C? I would find that totally unacceptable but I suppose he knew what he was getting into when he moved in.

The coldest my house gets is 65F/18C.

I take it the house has no insulation?

When did I disagree with this? You were the one telling me I shouldn't live alone. I'm desperate to get my own place.

i believe one stops being a kid when they have their own place.

based on things you had said, you probably arent ready.

Fart in his face right after waking him up.

Draw a penis on his face.

Write "Penis goes here" on his face and draw an arrow to his mouth.

Tie him down and then wake him up excitedly and pretending that there is a fire.

Sleep with his mother.

Do you Maori cast curses?

Go to sleep before him and start sleeping on the couch yourself.

Living alone is great. Since you cannot at this time, talk to the guy as a group. I'd hate it if someone was using a public space as a bedroom. There are/need to be boundaries when adults are living together as roommates, and he needs to respect that.

I highly doubt the interior of the house is getting to the freezing point, he's probably referring to outside temperatures.
