Flat panel speaker recommendations?

I'm looking for some relatively small flat panel speakers that still have good sound. When I get together with my friends for LAN parties, some of us like to take music breaks. 🙂 It's nice to have speakers, and they need to be decent, but I'm tired of lugging around my Philips DSS230's (Which are pretty nice for what they are. I think they have little sub-woofers built in or something.)

As usual I'm looking for something that's not very expensive. 🙂 Especially since I might like some for the office as well. I thought of flat panel because I've heard some things about at least one kind that were very impressive. Some kind of omni-directional sound projection. I don't think they all do that, though.

Any tips on this issue would be appreciated! Thanks!

i got some $40 or so falt panels once... i did not have a good experance they can cover some frequencs of sound well, but dont seem to do so well with others. Some of your favorite songs will song very different (not in a good way). But that was a year or so ago maybe someone has improved flat panel technology since then. Just remember to keep your recipt it you do perchase any.

IMO Monsoon has the best sounding flat panels, but they may not be what you think of as inexpensive (what price range are you looking for?). Also, what configuration do you want (2.1, 4.1, etc.)?

Yes, Monsoons nodoubt. Depending on how much money you have your choices range from the Planar Media 7s,9s, and 14s. All are 2.1 setups but the 14 has the most power. Id get (whichever model you get) them from www.provantage.com. THE best price possible for these speakers and provanatage is known to have good service.

Ive had mine for 3 years and they are superb.
