Flat panel monitors and games?

I've read mixed reviews on buying a flat panel monitor for a computer that is primarily used for games. Does anyone have advice for me? I read somewhere that the pictures are beautiful, but read elsewhere that refresh rates are subpar.

I own a flat panel monitor and love it. Yes the picture is crisp and the refresh rates are good IMHO. I have mine set at 75mhz. The corners do not get blurry after time and it can cut down on glare. If you interested in a flat panel monitor, I would suggest the Dell P991. It is a very good monitor and most here give it a thumbs up. Good Luck! 😀

Flat Panel Monitors are getting good at games, but IMHO I still think that a good monitor is better for gaming than a good flat panel display.

But in my opinion you should worry about bigger problems when choosing a flat panel display than just concentrating on how well it refreshes. Try to choose one which has even back-lighting across the screen and provides good resolution support (because PC's are getting faster the resolution is shooting up) as these are the factors in my opinion which also dictates how good a flat panel display is.

i would rather get a large AG CRT than a LCD. I at one point had a Dell Inspiron 8100 with a 15 inch LCD at 1440x(dunno), and compared to a AG monitor, it's quality is just slightly higher. It's definatley higher than a shadowmask low end but with the money you use on a LCD, you can get a larger high end Aperature Grille MOnitor.

Did either of you guys notice any change in eye fatigue? I don't hear people talk about that aspect much, but as much late-night gaming as I do, reducing eye-fatigue would be a serious consideration. Or maybe that's exactly what I shouldn't want. 😉
