How do I flash a bios?

Must I use a floppy?

I thought we could live without floppys nowadays.

Ever since bios' started recognising long files on cds or something.

Thanks in advance...

What brand/model of motherboard do you have? If you have the manual, take a quick look at the index... they almost always tell you what your options are, and how to do it.

Most of the time, no matter which motherboard you use, it's always a good idea to flash from a floppy although there are utilities that allow you to flash from Windows.

On how to do the flashing itself, read the manual of your particular motherboard. Most of the time you'll find the instructions from the zip file of the BIOS download too.

MSI, apparently, thinks it's a bad idea to flash bios from a floppy. MSI instructs the user to create a ram drive and copy the bios/flash app. to the ram drive and run it from there. I never follow MSI's instructions though (always use a floppy method).
