Update: 8-04 in the pm: I just found out that the US version does not have Starforce. But has Securom 7.
But that still doesn't explain why it doesn't want to run the first couple tries, or why the desktop shortcut doesn't work.




Update: 8-04: The game is awsome. When playing in the derbies, you can lose wheels. It's every bit better than the first. It's got everyithing the first one missed. And you really have to watch out for the debris on the road. Some of it is big!!

The only downside is I can't get the game to play the first time. I have to try a few times direct from the disc to get it to run, cuz the desktop shortcut never works.








I loved the first one. Our LAN parties lasted forever with the first.

My copy is pre-ordered and I should have it by Wednesday.

sigh....yes....it's the game where you fly out the windshield. But I never could get into that. I just really like the arcade feel of the game.

You try and damage and ram your opponent more than trying to win the race. I loved that.

The ragdoll tossing events were fun, but I thought the racing sucked. Maybe it would have been more fun against people than the computer, but the control was just too hard to get used to and I spent more time spinning out than racing.

the thing I dont like about Flat Out 2 and the reason for not buying it is StarForce.

The dirt track and low-end cars aspects of FO1 were charming. It doesn't look like FO2 has much going for it. Add that to Starforce and you're not left with much.

I just learned of the StarForce POS a couple days ago... hopefully it will runwith no problems.

Starforce is the reason I never bought X3. All my friends had more issues with the starforce than the game.

I enjoyed Flatout 1 on the Xbox. The races were fairly fun when playing with other people. The mini-games were reasonably fun and always a good laugh to show other people who hadn't seen the game (tho they do get old).

Since this one has Starforce... I think I'll stick to the Xbox version. Its at least worth a rent anyway.

Why the hell do all racing games have Starforce?? Though I did buy TOCA3 which has it but I have no had any problems with it at all. SF usually isnt as bad as people say. I'm kinda pissed I can't make a backup DVD or use a noDVD for TOCA though.

Flat Out came in the software package with my X1900XT, I never really liked racing games but I installed it anyway to try it out..

This game is FUN! Like the OP said.. you're trying to knock over crap and bang into the other drivers more then you try to come in first haha.

For TOCA 3, a group of people made a NODVD so just google and try it.
But I wouldnt install anything with Starforce, except TrackMania, I love that game.
