I was trying to flash the newest bios to my bh6 and I followed the directions as best as I could from the Abit web site(they were awful). I was flashing the bios and the completion bar went all the way to the end without any errors and then nothing happened. It didn't say it was complete or anything. I thought well maybe since the flashing program was so basic and being in dos that maybe it wasn't supposed to say complete...meybe it was simply done. Well I now have a feeling the flashing didn't work correctly. After I flashed it I couldn't do anything else but press the reset button...nothing else worked. Before I did that I noticed the warning message at the bottom of teh screen that said not to turn off or reset the computer. But since I couldn't do anything else and reseting was the next step according to the directions I did it anyway. Well when I reset nothing happens. The computer starts up and I can start to hear it click away...but there is no visual and Nothing goes anywhere...just a blank screen. I have a feeling I'm in a LOT of trouble aand I'm not sure what to do. I switched the CMOS jumper to try and put it back to default...and that didn't do anything. Anybody have any ideas?

Generally speaking, if you messed up flashing your bios, you're SOL. At this point, your best bet is to call up Abit. If you can prove that you followed their directions exactly you *may* (but very likely not) be able to get a replacement.

BH6's are notorious for having bad BIOS eproms. But maybe all is not lost.

Try booting with a basic boot disk , i.e., don't load any programs except what I say here, and put the awdflash program and BIOS file on there too. Make an autoexec.bat file with only the flashing commands in it and try rebooting your computer from this floppy.

If the original flash error wasn't because of a bad chip, the computer could still boot from a floppy since that BIOS code is not overwritten when you flash. But if the chip is bad you'll have to get a new one.

That happened to me twice (2 different BH6's), one recovered OK using the above method, for the other I got a new BIOS chip from http://www.compucheap.com for $20 shipped. Don't know if they have them anymore but they are very helpful.

Good luck!

Actually, if you call ABIT they'll give you an address where you send an $11 check to for a bios. You tell them what board (and revision for the BH6) you have and they'll flash it for you. I just did this myself. It was relatively easy to replace the chip too. The phone number is on their website.
