Flashing CDRW to Update Firmware.

Got TDK model: AI-241040B (not sure if it is LiteOn, not same model as LTR-24104B

How do you flash this firmware to the newest version? The TDK site does not offer a flash utility or program to flash this drive, only for the 241040X. Anyhow, I assume that since there is a newer version of firmware, this is another drive.

1) can anyone confirm which drive this is?
2) how do you flash?

Ok here's the low down.

Updated the firmware on the TDK. It finally works under CloneCD with a successful 1:1 copy of Win2k. But, the problem I have no is that it takes approx. 10 minutes to burn at 24x. This is unsatisfactory and is also more than twice as long as it takes my LiteOn to do the same burn under the same system.

I've looked the TDK FAQ website and I've done all what it states, but under Win2k, you cannot change DMA settings. Therefore, I ask, is there anything else that I am missing?

LMK.

have you actually checked in device manager under ide controllers to see if the drive is using DMA or PIO transfers?

bacillus,

I bow down to you sir! Thanks for helping, the burner burns freaking fast and up to par now.

Firmware updated simply, TDK burns as fast as 24x should. TDK is not LiteOn. I still do not believe AI-241040B is the LiteOn drive. Noone has negated me on that yet. Just stated that if it's "smartburn" then it's the LiteOn.

Anyhow, thread can be closed, thanks all.
