I remember taking pics of my Six Million Dollar Man with an Instamatic! He had a viewfinder through his head which was suspisciously like the Instamatic.

I had a 110 Instamatic and another type that also used the cube...can't remember the number of the film. 125?

The bulbs are coated with plastic that keeps them in one piece. The rapid heating shatters the glass envelope instantly when fired. Bare flashbulbs used in professional photography in the 60's were very dangerous. If held in the hand and "tested" :laugh: - the victim would have 2nd and 3rd degree burns on their fingers.

Now we have disposables with electronic flashes - a small xenon filled tube complete with a capacitor and trigger transformer designed to be tossed after as little as 24 uses. They can be taken apart and used for other purposes (mainly pranks it seems).

A little creative wiring, a handful of flash cubes dangling from the ceiling in the center of the room, a bag full of corn flakes, and an M-80... Simulated explosion, complete with "shrapnel". Guaranteed to cause someone to soil their pants.

The 4 sided instamatic ones you could pop with a pen since the battery was self contained in those. I used to love doing that but it seriously wasted some money. Those things were expensive!

The polaroid type had 6 in a row and worked off the battery in the camera or film pack. They weren't any fun to play with by themselves.
