Flash question

my company is looking at animating their logo. I can do html stuff, but when it comes to flash or animated gifs, I'm at a loss. Could someone take a look at their logo and see how difficult it would be to animate it? What program should I use? Would Flash be over the top? Could I go with something simpler to get the items moving?

They basically want the 5 "computers" to be rotating around along with the network cables in a circular path.

Animated gifs would be supported by any browser that I know of. Flash requires that your users have the Flash client installed. It's super common, but you don't want to alienate customers who don't have the flash client.

Regarding the actual logo though. It's huge, so if you make the whole thing move like you describe, I suggest having it to pretty slow. Because it's big and not perfectly round, you probably are going to have an easier time doing it with Flash. It's not tough, you can probably figure it out by reading guides on the net. You'd have to buy the flash dev software though, not cheap.

A flash movie would be quite a bit smaller than an animated gif too I think, considering the large size of the image and amount of frames the gif would require.


I dunno, hard call. I suppose I'd go with the Flash option if it were my business.

well, we are geared towards small/medium businesses and other portions of the site will be flash as well, so we are not worried about incompatibilites. We already have Flash purchased, so that would not be a problem. The logo is going to be scaled down A TON after we redo the site. It will probably be 200x200 max. I'll take a look at some guides and see what I can do. thanks for the response.

If you can find a copy of Live Motion 2.0, it would be a lot easier than learing MM Flash. And, btw, I cannot pull up your site, http://www.pcmhc.com/.

Yeah, the learning curve for Flash is very high. Live Motion was a lot easier to learn.
