Is there anyway to update flash without downloading their stupid download manager and the other BS?

You're welcome. I just fixed the first link.

I hate how adobe makes it so difficult to find the direct download links. I don't get why you would need a download manager for such a small program!!!!?!?

Same here. I usually download the version of firefox through IE and the version for IE through firefox to prevent this if I can't find the direct links. Works well.

I also hate needing a download manager for something so simple. I did my updates on all pcs, installing for IE first, then Firefox. Checked in IE8, Opera & Firefox, all show the latest version. At least, this time, no need to uninstall old version before installing new one. Sometimes, just updating does not take properly.

i ban flash except for chrome. chrome updates itself rather quickly. problem solved. plus its hella fast. i noticed the latest benchmark on firefox 4b6 was only using 1 core. very odd. it was still faster than ie9 in many areas (but not all). chrome pretty much slayed ie9 and firefox in all areas. plus it updates itself and statically linked flash.

remember there's a 32 and 64 bit flash now - so you will have firefox 64 and flash 64, firefox 32 and flash 32 for firebox
ie 32bit and 32bit active-x flash
ie 64bit and 64bit square active-x flash

or just use chrome for flash since any site that requires it is pretty lame to begin with - and not deal with so many updates.

I highly disagree. If I don't want flash I should have the chose to not have it. What happens when flash gets overtaken by html5 then what ? Who knows if it will ever be removed. Don't want to wait for that to happen.

I play a lot of flash games, and they run sooo much better on Chrome. So, I use Chrome for my games, and Firefox for everything else. For some reason, I don't like Chrome enough to use it exclusively. I guess I'm just too used to Firefox.

Thank MS for that, if Windows had proper package management none of this would be an issue.

Actually problem created, AFAIK Chrome doesn't have an update including this fix, which is why it's so incredibly fucking retarded to static link anything. Chrome is the only browser still at risk because they statically link Flash now.

Benchmarks mean absolutely nothing, if you're basing anything on them then you're severely confused.

Actually, according to this PCWorld article, Google pushed the patched plugin to a Chrome update 3 days before it was officially released.

I'm not seeing the issue.

Why would they forget or not update the plugin? The whole reason for bundling them was for quick and easy updates for situations like this.

Flash is going to be around for a while. I'd rather have the average user use a browser that will autoupdate their vulnerable plugins than to depend on them to update it themselves. Don't want the bundled flash? Then disable it.

Obviously they won't delay any updates intentionally without good reason, but I'm sure there will eventually be some delay or complication that will leave Chrome users without an update. It's just how things work in the software development world. And the reasons against static linking are pretty obvious and have been known for decades. If you want to fix how Windows handles updates then fix that, don't start bundling various 3rd party libraries inside of your app to work around the problem. More, smaller pieces are almost always better than fewer, bigger monolithic apps.

Speaking of statically-linked, along with per-app libraries, think of the GDI exploit. And the JPEG exploit. What a mess.

No. i just tried this flash game as a test and it worked fine for me.
http://armorgames.com/play/6962/pcdefense

you may have to run the flash uninstaller, restart and reinstall it.

That game loads for me but then just goes to a blank white screen.
Do i need to allow something other than armorgames.com in NoScript?

I guess i should have been clearer in my other post. Some games load just fine after the update, some didn't. I had no problem with any of them before this last update.
It took probably 10 tries to get http://www.miniclip.com/games/baseball/en/baseball.swf to load but now it works. I still can't get http://www.nitrome.com/games/icebreakergathering/ working.
