Ok figured that one out. Use a ramp to bridge the gap. Turn the circle into a wheel on a skate thing. Connect the "skate" to the hub of a large wheel on the high plateau. Attach a weight to rotate the large wheel and pull the "skate" up the ramp. Chock-block the "skate" so it won't roll back. Then rebuild the wheel and connection and redo over and over until the circle reaches the flag.
Now for level 20 ...

Finished the game, didn't see what level was the final. The squares can slide if you attach a wheel to them.

how the heck do you beat level 11!?!?!

Easy way: put an X on the circle. Draw a dome over the circle with the bottom extending past the platform. The circle will clip through the platform and you complete it using 1 shape.

Hard way: Draw a rectangle to one side of the circle. Draw an x on the rectangle and then attach a long piece to it, extending almost to the ends of the screen, balanced on each end so it makes a T. Draw and x on the top bar and attach a ramp leading to the flag. Knock the ball over using whatever you want so it falls onto the ramp

I went through this a few times since I started, tried different things on different levels. I came up with some pretty cool contraptions for each of the levels.

I finally beat the damn thing, but it took me 130 shapes 🙁

Oddly enough, that was enough to give me 10th in the national standings... weird.

I can't get past level 5. 🙁

Oh, well I guess it helps to read the help file - I didn't know that you could put hinges or pins on any shape.

Hmm, now that I can pin stuff together, it's like playing Garry's Mod for HL2. 🙂

.....And now I'm hung up on Level 12.

Heh, I think I'm averaging somewhere around 30 shapes per level.

How did you manage it with only 1 level?

First time through, my aim is to simply solve the level in some way. That's bad enough, much less optimizing the solution.

Oh, neat. I also didn't know that pins or hinges could be attached the objective shape thing.

Level 12 is done.

I attached a hinge to the ball, and then attached a hinge to the X square. Then I used an off balance shape to "launch" the ball. I erased the arm as soon as I reached the right angle to throw the ball far enough.

edit: having trouble with 6 and getting it in as few pieces as possible. I KNOW I can do it using as many shapes as I want, just trying to use one or two.

Ah, I guess that'd do it. It wasn't until Level 12 that I found that you could attach things to the objective shape.

I do wish there was some indication of when a shape has locked onto a pin or hinge. I waste loads of shapes just trying to draw something such that it actually locks into place.

Same here.
😕

There's not exactly a lot that can be done. There's no room.

Ah, there we go.
Solution:

Use a hinged thing attached at the purple rectangle thing such that the bulk of it is outside. Whack it with a mass of something such that it spins around and whacks the ball up the ramp.

Go to free play and try this:

Make a hinge on the ball.

Make an object that completely overlaps the ball.

Erase JUST the hinge. (yes, you can do this)'

see what happens!

If a shape contains another fixed shape, it will try to move the shortest distance such that the shape no longer intersects it. If you have a square with another square inside of it such that the top and bottom are an inch away, the left side is an inch and a half away, and the right side is half an inch away, the large square will move to the left half an inch (if there is no other shape on the left side prohibiting the movement).
If you attach your circle to a square that surrounds the platform your circle is sitting on, you can move it in any direction using this trick. If there is a platform directly below you, mark a pin on your circle, then draw a shape around your circle so that more of it is below you. Your circle will immediately clip through the platform

eesh. just looking at 24 gives me a headache now.

I solved 13 by dropping in lots of balls behind it and pushing them with a lever extending up out of the confined space. inefficient but it worked.

And the physics engine has some problems like I'd see in Garry's Mod.
Example

Funky stuff happens when there are lots of welds.

Similarly, I've found that this game exhibits weird behavior when lots of pinned connections are made. It can't seem to find equilibrium, and the whole structure keeps shaking like some fine imported booty.

Part interference also doesn't work consistently in this. I'll make a support shape, and then something hinged next to it, in the hopes that the hinged thing will rest on the support shape. Nope, the hinged thing swings right through it several times, before suddenly decided that the support shape is in fact solid.

And darn it, I want a more complex game. I'm trying to build a trebuchet, but it's kind of tough without any good way of anchoring anything to the ground, or any way of using things of variable weight, or without knowing how exactly a trebuchet works. 🙂

Update: I did it, I build a trebuchet to finish Level 20. 😀
