Flash drive based imaging solutions?

I need an imaging software that will boot from a USB flash drive, allow reading and writing image files from that flash drive, and support the resizing of image files to match drive sizes. I'm working with police mobile computers that don't have cd drives so everything has to be flash drive based.

Thus far I have tried PING which did most things I needed it to do, except reliably write MBRs after resizing a partition. I also tried CloneZilla but that doesn't let you read/write images from the flash drive I booted from.

Any ideas?

Acronis TrueImage (latest version) will do that. I use it on a bootable flash drive, and it has all the same capabilities contained in the installed mother program. It handles disparate drive sizes as well. I use it for cloning laptop HDDs to other USB HDDs.
