flash disk troubles

hi guys,
i have an 8 gig flash drive that only goes up to 3.5 gigs of data then after that it dosent hold anymore, in the properties display t he drive reads as having 7.51 GB FAT32, when copying even small files once it crosses 3.5 gigs it crashes even for a 1 kb file.

can anyone relate to this problem ? if so please help

Sounds like you have a ghost drive, meaning it is formatted to look like it has the full data but really is not fully formatted. This is often done by lazy manufacturers, but luckily you can probably restore it to the full 8GB! You should definitely check out this article on recovering broken flash drives, which provides the necessary software to do so as well. Just be sure to follow the instructions well.
