Flash ads and CPU usage - a little over the top?

I've noticed that in the past few days, many of my favorite websites (AT, Hardocp) have multiple little flash ads that peg my CPU at 100%. After 5 minutes or so of browsing around, the ads actually cause Firefox to slow down to a crawl, and eventually lock up so that I can't quit it except to force end the task.

I know it wasn't like this a few days ago, so WTH is going on. I can't even browse the net properly as it takes like 10 seconds for my up/down keys to register while browsing a site. Its unbearable!

I've seen ads like that on the NYTimes website that would just slow down Firefox to a crawl when you tried to scroll. I don't mind ads, as long as they aren't slowing down the page or annoying.

You can uninstall it... there are very few websites that actually require flash.

click the HD links; As brutal as flash is ever goign to get...

Those movies only use about 70% of my CPU. Meanwhile 4 of those little ads use up like 100%. Something just isn't right there....

AXP 3200+, 6600GT.

Viewing Futurama with Flash 8, Firefox used 88MB RAM and 35-40% CPU.

Viewing HD clip, 95MB RAM and 60-65% CPU.

I hate the ones that pop OVER what you're trying to do, and even if SOME (not even all!) have the little x, you must carefully take your time to pick it out so you don't click on the actual ad.

64% on my 3.2 P4 HT laptop.

i have noticed 100% on some ads, though, too. i think they must just be badly done or something.

I think Firefox has problems or maybe it is the flash program. Something crashes Firefox once in a while and it seems to be related to the flash ads.

Uninstall all versions of Flash and try installing the latest one, along with the latest version of FF. FF has never played nice with Flash IMO, but its much better now.

Find a master list hosts files to replace yours with in windows. Did the trick for me in getting rid of a LOT of ads.
