Anybody having troubles with, or heard of problems with the new Flash 8.0.24.0? Since I installed it on this PC (at least, I *think* that's when the problems started), I haven't been able to hear sound on flash movies. Things like homestarrunner.com are OK, but flash videos that you find on myspace or ebaumsworld have no sound. The problem persists for both IE and Firefox.
So far I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash, and updating my sound card driver. Although I must admit, the latter was a dismal failure. This machine is using an Ensoniq ES1370 AudioPCI, which is a card made in 1996. WinXP has some drivers stored from it -- those are what I've been using. I couldn't find anything "official" that was more recent, so in a move of desperation I tried one of the drivers I found on www.soundcard-drivers.com. It halted my system, I had to remove the card and reinstall it to restore the old drivers. The WinXP driver that I'm using (which work) is a Creative Soundblaster 64/128 PCI driver.
Other things about this system...
WinXP SP2
AMD Athlon 800Mhz
256 MB of RAM
Thanks..
