Was at the Dollar Tree in Greensburg, PA (just outside Pittsburgh), and found a bin full of Quake 3 Arena in the nice metal boxes for $1 each! Granted, it was the Linux version of the game, but it can easily be converted to the windows version with a download from id's site.

Hopefully this just isn't one of those 'right place, right time' deals, so maybe this deal is available everywhere.

you never know what you'll find at the dollar store, this is just another point to emphasize that

we've got those dollar stores around here, but I though they're just for those junky Chinese made trinkets...

Yeah, they had a lot of those little crappy knick-knacks and stuff like that. I was shocked to see a computer game in there! I've also seen other PC games in the past at similar stores, but they were either terrible games like those hunting ones, or ten years old and not even worth the dollar. You would be surprised at what you can find at those places.

My question is, is there actually anybody on earth that does NOT have a copy of Quake III by now? :)

Those tin cases were supposed to be a limited edition collectors thing. Amazing there are any left.

The Dollar Tree down here in Palm Bay had a rack full of NEED FOR SPEED III cd's with a matchbox car attached to each one. Not bad for a buck.

I wonder what stores like EB would pay for metal boxed copies of Q3A - even if it was 5 bucks, you'd still be able to get a LOT of usable credit by hitting up multiple stores :)

for those who think of buying for resale, u are asking for trouble..

resale value in ebay is like Sh!t

plus sucker weight 2 lbs.. shipping will kill the deal if u want to resale it

I have hard time unloading several copies on ebay and sold all (just even out) to AT member..
