Xclan:

There are two links to the QX3...One brings you to the $99 price, the
other to $29.99 for the QX3 and the morpher. Snoop around a bit. Be
sure to click on the link that says "includes free gift". That's the
right one...

Should the sound morpher show up in the shopping cart?
It's not there for me if it is supposed to...

Also here is a link for 10% off your order Intel 10% off

The free gift is "not valid with any other offer"... I guess that's why it won't show up in your cart if you've the 10% discount. I ordered several hours ago and got the sound morpher too. So $3 off or another lame toy? your choice :)

The sound morpher is kind of lame, but I don't think it's $3 lame.
I mean, your kid might get a couple of hours of fun out of it, and
that's worth at least $3. Plus, the included software that lets
you create cartoon faces that move their mouths (in a kinda believable
way) to the stuff you've recorded is kinda cool.

My recommendation: Take the sound morpher rather than the $3.

One caveot: Sound morpher works only with Win9x. If you don't run
Win9x, don't bother.

I'll take both :) My order went through with 10% off AND the free sound morphers. Only problem I have is that all of my orders have 2nd day shipping charges showing in the order history, even though I definitely selected the free ground shipping.

Cool. Hope it comes through.

Hmmm what is the resolution. It would be nice to use this as a cheap slide scanner.

I just ordered the microscope and the camera and used the 10% off and the order show 2 of the morphers for free. Total is $57.72 which includes tax of $3.74. It says free ground shipping.

I ordered one of the sound morphers last christmas when they were only $10 shipped. I tried it out on my own XP system and it worked just fine. Its somewhat simple, and gets old in a little bit, but certainly still fun for the kids and worth picking up.

I grabbed the microscope to play with myself, I'll have another sound morpher I wont know what to do with, but I'll probably play with the microscope until I find it in my closet, then sell it on ebay with the sound thingy for just a little under what I paid for it.

Bought the microscope for my kids a couple of years ago when WalMart was clearancing them out.
So so resolution. Its collecting dust on our computer desk.

The Achilles heal of the QX3 microscope is the illumination. With
the standard illumination that is supplied with the microscope, you
will have a hard time getting a good image of almost anything at
200x (same problem as with a standard microscope, of course). Even
at 60x illumination problems raise their head. If you use your
own illumination, you can fix this problem.

We use a QX3 at work to look at and take pictures of crystals for
x-ray crystallography. We use it with a very expensive base that
has fibre optic illumination and get extremely good images.

LOL, sounds like our lab. Used a very expensive Leica microscope and a very expensive Panasonic camera attachment, which in turn was connected to a very cheapo Iomega Buz vid capture device, connected to a PC in the lab. Used it for shooting stills and video of microorganisms in a termite gut. :)

On that note, I ordered a microscope. Why not for $27? :D

Just talked to the CSR. Told me that their system allows one promotion per order. Hence free sound morpher and %10 off could not be combined. Cancelled it and ordered it again with the free morpher. I guess it will be more than $3 worth of gift.
