I think this is a pricing error. Hopefully they will honor it. :) I bought both of these last year for about $100 fo my niece and nephew.

it's not a pricing error... my wife works for intel, and she told me they're killing off their consumer electronics (toys) division... we got several of the QX3 microscopes and junk pretty cheaply... the microscopes are actually very nice toys for kids.... you can't go wrong for $29

Intel will have to honor the price -- that's the amount they charge your credit card. In any case, these things have been on clearance of late (they are currently on sale at MicroCenter for $49.99). I have an unopened QX3 I bought from MicroCenter last week -- I'm going to return that now. The microscope and the sound morphers will make great gifts for my bratty little nieces and nephews (as well as their geeky uncle).

Great deal for $30 !!!

Set this ah heck up for filling and connecting those tiny Athlon XP L1 bridges to unlock for overclocking.

I bought one of these on Target clearance about a year and a half ago for $25 for my daughter.

I picked one of these up at best buy for 9.50. It was an online pricing error. When I went to pick it up at the store it was marked 49.50. That was before Christmas. However I just got back from best buy and all of there toys were marked down 75% off the last ticketed price! If you can find one at best buy it would be 75% off of 49.50. They had none but I just picked up an I-cybie for 12.38!

A question for anyone who has this microscope -- can this thing be used to capture color slides (kodachrome pictures)?

Even if it doesn't capture high quality directly to a picture file, maybe you can use screen capture.

One thing I don't like is for XP support you need to order a CD ROM disk. Intel doesn't have the drivers on their website.

Don Black,
I meant to unlock Athlon chips on the L1 bridges.

SimMike2,
The resolution is relatively poor on these things so it wouldn't work very well for capture.

I couldn't find any reviews...is the Digital Movie Creator a toy? Or actually useful?

Good deal. Sam's Club was selling the microscope comb for 90 before Christmas and 70 after Christmas. Good thing I procrastinated.

The Microscope is a pricing error. The price for the Microscope shows $99 on the Shop-Intel homepage. Linky

Also found this on their website.

Errors and Omissions
Intel makes efforts to ensure the accuracy of the information published on the Web site. If an error is made, Intel will maintain the right to refuse or cancel any orders placed for products affected by the error. Such errors may include price. If the order has been confirmed and charged to a credit card, Intel will issue a credit representing the difference between the incorrect and corrected price.

Doubt we will get it.

Maybe the $99 is the error and the $29 is the correct price. It goes into your cart and checkout at $29. Anyone have anymore info on the camera and if it's worth $29?

Sweet! I'm in! The microscope says 1-2 weeks too, but the sound morpher ships next business day. Free shipping is a nice touch. Good deal.

I kinda thought there might be a coupon code around - didn't see anything in the usual places. There may be a rebate on that microscope. I'm gonna research that a bit more and I'll report back :)

PS - It's probably not a price error. It's well known that Intel is shutting down their consumer device division. They're just clearing out any remaining inventory. I'm 99% sure on that...

Crap! The Intel® Play QX3? Plus Computer Microscope AND the Intel Play Digital Movie Creator are selling for $29.99! Wow, I thought it was just the microscope. D'oh!!

SUPER HOT DEAL. Both the QX3 and the Digital Movie Creator are great
toys...and well worth $30 apiece, shipping included. The QX3 DOES
work with Win2K/WinXP, but you have to contact Intel to get the
updated install CD taht supports these operating systems.

The Sound Morpher is kind of lame...but think of it as absolutely
free and it's not bad for that price :)
