Sprint, T Mobile and Verizon all offer a flavor...need the pc card to get it up and running, unless youre doing a serial cable to cell phone adapter of some sort.

1. Did anyone else notice that the $100 rebate that printed out from the cash register says: "Purchase either HP ZE1201 (SKU 492604), HP ZE1202 (492605) or HP ZE1230 (SKU 492707) Notebook PC between......" There is no mention of the HP Pavilion ZE1210 (492780) on the form.

2. Both the HP and Staples Rebates require the original UPC. The floppy drive offer will accept a copy. Who gets originals and who gets copies?

Thanks for you help and finding this great deal.

If anyone sees one of these and doesn't want it, pick it up and make an immediate
$150 or more.

Here's the deal:

I'll pay you $900 SHIPPED for one of these. All you do is buy it, send me the receipt WITH
the UPC attached to the sealed box and the rebate forms attached to the receipt.

Easiest money you can make...Buy and ship and make nearly $200. Can PayPal
immediately for someone with good feedback.

Oh, and if you happen to WORK at a Staples that still has these in stock,
I'll pay you $125 to just sell it and ship it to me. An incentive to
check those stores around you, eh?

Offer is firm. Please don't offer unless you are ready and willing to make the deal. I already
had someone back out on me today (and someone swipe a "held" notebook my sister
went to pick up!)

Staples Advertises the $150 Rebate for laptops right?

If I were to buy the Laptop at full price say in Circut City, come back with the $150 rebate advertising and a receipt from Staples... do you think they will do a 110% pricematch? My friend got in on this deal and has a reciept for $729 before taxes for the laptop. Does Circut City pricematch rebates if they don't have a similar valued rebate?

I'm thinking $729 - $150 Staples Rebate = $579
110% Pricematch - $521.10.
- $100 HP = $421.10

Anyone have experience with this? Thanks.

no chance jlo. in my experience CC does not generally PM when rebates are involved, much less give me money back equal to the value of the rebate from another store.

So for those of us that got these, and want to connect them to our Desktops using a KVM switch, what is the best option? Remember that these have no PS2 ports . . . only USB. So we need a KVM that supports USB functionality. Here are two options:

Option 1:
Buy this KVM (Still available at buy.com = $35 shipped with ALL (?) cables) and get PS2 to USB converters. This kit comes with the VGA cables too right?!
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10232552&loc=101

Option 2: (I like the looks of this!)
http://www.hawkingtech.com/products/cs112u.htm
This KVM has USB connections to both computers and also serves as a USB hub. Only thing is that I don't think it comes with VGA cables (but does include the usb cables). It is available for ~$50 on most sites, some with free shipping. Thing is that we'd prolly need to get VGA cables . . . usually around $7-8 bux shipped on most sites. Other option is to just put the lappy beside the desktop monitor and use each computer with it's own monitor (Desktop to monitor and labtop using it's screen) and share just the keyboard and mouse. This KVM let's you use your existing PS2 KB/Mouse and still connect to the lappy using USB.

I can't believe more people aren't getting in on this deal! I mean this is a pretty sweet laptop with good specs for only $479! This deal seems so much better than any of the other deals currently going on laptops, yet the other threads are so much longer.

Am I missing something? Is there something wrong with this laptop that I should know about?

Anyone added the Powernow desktop so they can see the processor changing speeds? My ZE1210 has been on Always On and drinks batteries fast in the setting. I tried the max battery life setting and performance was greatly diminshed -- ran at 280 to 312 mhz opening Qimage (photo printing).

I am now trying out the laptop setting.

PowerNow Desktop -- Any Thoughts??

Did you download Powernow and install it? According to your link, this software is preinstalled in Windows XP. Also, running at 280 to 312Mhz doing anything is ridiculous. Is this how all mobile AMD based laptops work?

Also, did anyone try DVD playback on this yet? Does it work/look well?

mandms7,

Please, tell me where I can find it? I've been to 6 staples and none of them can get it. I'd love to take advantage

DVD playback is fine. The notebook does great. Just do not set the power setting to max battery life.

As for PowerNow being active already in XP read AMD's statement from the AMD PowerNow link:

"Enabling PowerNow!

Check whether the PowerNow! software is installed and enabled by going to Power Options under the Control Panel. If there is a PowerNow! section, then AMD PowerNow! Software is installed. Use the PowerNow! section to set your PowerNow! settings.

Windows XP:
AMD PowerNow! support is included with Windows XP. This means that under Windows XP the AMD PowerNow! Software should not be installed.
IMPORTANT: As of the current release of Windows XP, you must go to http://www.windowsupdate.com and download the latest processor driver to enable PowerNow!."

Makes me unsure if PowerNow is on or not. I did not find a driver to download in updates.....

DVD playback is decent (provided you are using headphones for the audio since the speakers are dreadful). Watched Resident Evil while flying to Orlando. Really made an impression on the people sitting next to me. The guy in the seat behind me agreed: if you only rent one DVD featuring bloody, skinless Dobermans this year, Resident Evil is the one to get.

Sorry, I can't tell you of specific stores to look at. I can tell you, however, that you should make sure to ask for item #492780. A previous item number was posted (the one that the Staples web site showed) and that is not the right one. I tried using the item # off the website and numerous stores told me they didn't carry it, until I found out about the right item #.

Can anyone tell me if you can reformat the HDD on this unit and reinstall just the XP operating system from the HP "recovery" CDs (I assume that is where XP is located since there is no operating system CD)? I really don't want any of the preloaded software (and I would rather not just "remove" the software, I like a clean installation of my OS).

I usually build my own systems and therefore don't have any unwanted softeware. In this case, the preloaded stuff takes up about 20-25% of the 20GB HDD.

Thanks.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised at the 16X/10X read/write speeds myself :D

BTW . . . this thing rocks . . . I have a PHAT desktop . . . but to have almost (minus the Radeon 8500) capabilities in a lappy for $480 bux is insane!

Got the confirmation of Staples receiving and verifying my $150 rebate yesterday. I had sent a copy of the UPC to them so I guess everything should be OK to get both rebates.

Thanks again guys for helping put together this awesome deal.

Even if you find one the managers know about the deal and you will not get it. I found one still in one store in MA and that manager wants 1300$ for the laptop. Staple managers were tosted by this deal one even told me here onward we will keep an eye on our clearance prices.

Has anyone found a good price on a replacement battery for the
ZE-1210? One battery is just not enough to use the laptop for cross
country trips...

The HP part number for the battery is F4486B...
