It worked for me!😀

Got it from Staples for $246 (FYI, they apply your local
tax to the pricematched $269.99 and _then_ apply the
coupon).

It will take 5-business days _but_ I saved $23 and every
cent counts!

Thanks for the heads-up and your many hours of search,
RDSport!!!😉

I, too, almost got this from onvia.com but another board
implies their stock is low and they _might_ be heading
the way of other etailers: gone. Hope they survive, though!
I like onvia.com a lot: many good sales there...

if you guys want a real monitor. . .and not terribly expensive:
samsung 900nf
perfectly Flat CRT (not the trinitron, contrary to popular belief, but it is their own model, and it works the same way)
manufacturer recommended res and rr: 1600 x 1200 @ 85hz
its a little expensive, but not as expensive as the sony g400 . .
900nf. . .great monitor if you can manage to find it anywhere. ..i got mine at the end of summer. . .and i had to wait like 3 weeks from onvia. . .now the line is much longer. . .good luck

No pricematch. That sucks. I saw this deal weeks ago but didn't have the money. Staples wanted to charge shipping because another website with the same price charged shipping. I guess I will wait until onvia.com gets it back in stock.

Knowing Onvia.com, *IF* and when they do get them back in stock, it'll probably be like $70 more expensive.. but, who knows....

try callign staples back, and try to find a site w/ the monitor for just as cheap, I know there are a few others... and try to find one w/ the least amount of shipping, or maybe even free.. and if they try to tag on overnight shipping, tell them, im not getting over night delivery, im getting 3-5 business day delivery... see if they'll let u slide on that.

This $40 off $200 coupon got banned ........ I tried to use it on serveral phone calls, different CSR ask me FAX the coupon to them 🙁
Can anyone scan the coupon??

Just ordered a Viewsonic E790B-4. KICK ASS MONITOR. I tried ordering this before christmas with the $40 off $200 and a PM, but it didnt work(out of stock). This is one of viewsonics finest monitors. I actually found this monitor in white at first, but this one is black and was only like $20-30 more. It was $330.74 with tax (5% here in Indiana). The white one you cang get for under $300. It blows away those 2 listed monitors, I have looked at them all. Now I dont have to paint my monitor either to match my case!

Garrett.

Congrats to those who got in on this deal.... If you tried yesterday and failed, try again today.. There are MANY monitor deals to be had...

I just found out yesterday a VERY HOT deal but, by the time I realized it, it was 15 minutes from expiring. Staples had a $100 IR (a coupon code, PM me if you need it, or email me) for their product SKU 424462 which retails at $199.99 ($200+ everywhere else), - 100 IR, brings the total down to 99.99, smack on a 30/100 coupon, and you get your own personal Canon PC420 Personal Coy machine. I called in 1800STAPLES, not 18003Staple to put my order in after it expired, and they allowed me.

So, try your luck on that one

take care

My query is, has anyone seen any Onvia coupons anywhere lately? Used to be plenty. You can private mail me if you prefer.

Thanks!

Called again, the CSR bitchin' on me. And she has been very rude.
First she denied my coupon, says that I cannot use the coupon if it wasn't mailed to me ...... whatever.
I fight with her on the phone for like half hour.
Finally I got the deal ......... this was the hardest one I have ever get .......
Name is Samantha, ext is 6823 ......... not a good CSR .....

Is aperture Grille the same as trinitron? My Viewsonic PF790 also has 2 horizontal lines. I thought this feature is Trinitron only, but there is no mentioning of Trinitron anywhere for this monitor (only aperture grille). Has Sony licensed their Trinitron technologies to other companies? I know there are Diamontron, Avitron, etc... Did they just buy the tubes from SONY or did they manufacture their own?

Thanks for the answers,

cpliu

Trinitron = Sony's patented aperture grill design. The CRTs are produced by Sony for use in their own products, plus they sell their CRTs to other monitor OEMs such as KDS, IBM, HP, etc.

DiamondTron = Mitsubishi's own aperture grille design, based on licensed Sony Trinitron technology. Mitsubishi produces the CRTs for use in their own line of monitors, plus they sell their CRTs to monitor OEMs such as Iiyama, Samsung, etc.

Ouch. Onvia's prices just went up and they now charge for shipping. The 950P is now $301.46 and the Viewsonic Q952 is $286.83.

This Onvia change is going to mess up a lot of deals.

Those tiny lines are tention wires. You will see them in about any monitors over 17" and up. Most people say they show better on ag monitors, I disagree though. Trinitrons hide them pretty well. Invar shadow mask monitors they are fairly definite.

Garrett.

Not only did Onvia's prices go up, and now have shipping charges, but they now charge tax in most states. Rats!

I called Onvia. They have changed computer hardware distributors.

In effect, it's almost a different place now, at least on the computer side. Much worse.

Seems to me their web site search ability has gone to hell as well. It's probably some link in to their distributor. At a guess.

Onvia has gone off my favorites list now for sure.

Had to order my Antec 1030b black beauty workstation mid-tower plus case from a Texas outfit, Directron. Well, at least they let me substitute the 400W Antec power supply for $50 more. (I'm planning on running the dual processor AMD 760mp DDR mobo once it is out and fairly well debugged.)

I have a 19" Trinitron, and I can always notice these two lines, like now, one is in this text box. I guess if a Pixie shows those two lines, people will say it's a junk monitor and having whole lines of bad pixels. Now everybody just accept them in Trinitron, and maybe think it's a nice feature?😕

And for the color and etc, I can't say my Trinitron is better than my Samsung. But I can tell it's much better than my broken Pixie and cheap Compaq got from Marcata.

Yes, Onvia (in the States at least) is no longer in the computer sales business. They've handed that over to another company that will use the Onvia name and give them a cut of the action. For details, click on their Company page, and look for the recent press release.

Here's the link:

Onvia

BTW, Staples.com must be a very different animal than Staples.ca. A few months back I was told they couldn't provide Quickbooks 2000 since the manufacturer no was no longer producing Quickbooks. I even called to verify that. And yes, this was well before Quickbooks 2001 was released, and no, they said that Intuit was no longer producting Quickbooks.

Well, I ignored some personal reviews of the Samsung Syncmaster 950p in favor of the positive reviews. Now that I have the monitor, I see uneven colors ie; the whole right side of the monitor is brighter than the left. There is some darkness in the top left corner. It isn't as apparent at brighter levels, but it's there. It could be considered minor, and most people wouldn't notice. Personally the biggest reason I care is because I dabble in Photo Editing. I got it from Onvia with free shipping. I don't feel burned, but I don't think I got the hot deal I was expecting.

Onvia became Firstsource.com.

AN OFFICE SUPPLY COMPANY, with a small computer inventory.

Too bad. Onvia was great when you needed a cheap $5 cable or some thermal grease. Just got a 10 ounce(!) tube of thermal grease for $2.95 shipped from Onvia right before the switched over to become firstsource.

Wow. I did the deal Sunday and today Monday it would not have worked. Boy did I get lucky. But here is another place. Just goto www.pricewatch.com and search for your favorite monitor also at staples. I saw many there cheaper then at onvia. You just have to remeber most of those places have shipping fees and you need to look that up.

Garrett.

Shipping for a monitor will be huge. I bought my first 19" monitor from buy.com, when they offered free shipping, back to 1999. Now we know they won't honer free shipping for any heavy items.😀
