I hate onvia.com for always cancelling my orders and for having a sh*tty inventory database... but I do love them for the same reason of having a sh*tty inventory database (eg. stock availablity)... What Staples doesn't know, won't hurt them... Of course everything that Onvia.com has that shows "In Stock" is REALLY in stock... thats what I was led to believe, and so will the CSRs at Staples.com... Here are two of the great deals you can find or PM through Staples at Onvia.com...I know there are more, but ive spent the past 5-6hrs looking for a deal, and this is what I think most people would want..

Samsung Syncmaster 950p (Ranked #1 by PC World Mag, I currently have this one and its awesome!)
staples item# IM1010535 = $332.49
onvia item# 950p = $269.99
price match them and use the $40 off $200 coupon found at other sites, and BOOM = $229.99 +tax SHIPPED

Viewsonic Optiquest Q952 19" monitor
staples item# IM1231077 = $323.99
onvia item# Q952 = $249.98
price match them and use the $40 off $200 coupon, and BOOM = $209.98 +tax SHIPPED to your door!

I think these are some FAIRLY hot deals.... get a 19" monitor now!

and for those who currently have a Flat Screen LCD, that plan on getting these 19" beauties... PLEASE, consider selling them to me??? I'm looking for any 15" LCD Flat screen for a friend... SELL TO ME...

Also, I know that there are more monitor deals to be had here w/ PMing to staples, if anyone happens to fall on a decent one, preferrably a 21".. LMK...

Thanks! and I hope this is usefull for everyone!

i'm not too impressed by trinitrons as i thought i would be, bought a Sony 21" 520GS and it's ghosting, sony says the cable might be too long. Gee, let me go grab my knife and chop the cable in half....LOL, anyhow, those are GREAT deals for 19" monitors. Any of them FLAT SCREEN? I would like to grab one. Thanks

I have the Samsung 950p, I'm not sure if you would consider it a flatscreen, but... I like it... check the website here... for the specs... ..

and what the heck is the difference between a Trinitron and whatever? and how is it a high risk? will the monitor come out and kill me? or break right when you turn it on? maybe i'm stupid to understand the risk involved.. can someone explain?

The risk of a trinitron is in that the vibrant color's created may give you a negative opinion of monitors without. Anyway my friend has a Compaq with trinitron and it rocks.

Trinitron monitors at what extra cost? I dunno if paying more is worth more... I just read articles on the monitor, and if it says its good, it's good by me... Trinitron or Not... besides, I like my Samsung 950p... It does its job... now I want a Flat screen.

Call 18003STAPLE and place an order for a pricematch on the Item #s listed above... and then tell them to apply coupon # ______ (get it from another board such as techb@rgains.com) , and then you're done.

Oh, and I think that you could only use each coupon once.. that's why you should get more than one customer #...:)

Interesting. I just attempted to place an order with staples. The long and short of it is they would price match but said they would not honor any coupons given that they were price matching.

While pricematch with Staples is good, Onvia delivered next day air at ups ground price. (maybe just lucky) Ordered wed afternoon got it thurs morning at 9:00 AM. And as it was not damaged, with inspection on delivery inside house, its seems worth the extra money. :D

Same thing happened with me: will pricematch, but will not apply coupon.

Trinitron tubes generally have cripser displays and nicer colors, In my opinion. Actually, I like my KDS Avitron (trinitron tube) better than my friends Sony Trinitron. But, with a trinitron tube, you do get 2 slightly annoying lines accross your screen, 1 about a quarter way down from the top and the other about a quarter way up from the bottom. Sony has not been able to design a tube with the color brilliance of a trintron without using two supporting horizontal rods whose shadows slightly discolor the screen where those two lines appear. Most people, me included get pretty used to it. It only shows up when the pixels in those regions are showing light colors. IMHO, it's worth the trade off. I have a Pixie (thanks to this forum) which has a decent picture, but it can't compare colorwise with my KDS Avitron.

Trinitron Flat Screens rock. I have a KDS AV-195TF and it blows away my all of my friends monitors. I cannot say enough good things about this monitor. However, I will say that a $180 price difference would at least make me look....not now, but would've before.....

They won't apply the COUPON?!?? I think its the case with the old Staples deal, the one w/ the free TV, and free GamePad... which oen was that? Was it with the Elsa Gladiac? awhile back?

I called right before I posted this message, and she applied the COUPON as well as Pricematched .. Without problems... she was very helpful.. I accidently gave her the $30 off 200 code at first, then I said Oops, and gave her the 40/200 and she applied it..

Try again.

Freebee, You got lucky with Onvia... Onvia is very bad w/ keeping their databases up to date.. I got lucky just once w/ them and ordered a Duron 750, and a day and a half later, POOF, it shows up at my doorstep.. call it next day shipping, or just call it plain lucky.. but, the other 3 of my 6 orders, all got cancelled, or took them more than a week to ship out... I waited on an SX830 case for over two weeks, just to find out it was out of stock, yet their database shows that it has been in stock for the past two weeks.. I'd rather go for the cheaper deal, than to gamble w/ Onvia.

I have to agree that the trinitrons rock. I got a 17incher about 5 years ago with my pentiumpro 200 dell system. Paid $700 for it then but it was the best at the time. Still showing its beautiful colors today. I do disagree with the comment on the horiz lines. I don't find them annoying at all. I have to look for them if I want to see them.

Thanx for the info...I just ordered one after finding out my order for the SyncMaster 955DF was canceled by OnVia.

Does anyone happen to know the difference between the two? OnVia lists the 950P @ $269 vs. the 955df @ $297. I tried the Samsung website and I keep getting "page cannot be displayed" errors. I'm even using the links on their site!

I had no problem with the coupon either. At first the lady said they were out of stock and I figured I missed out on another deal (Iomega). But she entered the wrong number and came back and said yes they had it. It came to $241.49 total.

I'm going to their site on to reconfirm the order.

Yep, it's there with the coupon number and everything.

I'd have to second the idea that the Trinitron lines aren't annoying. They are less than the width of a human hair, and it takes an effort to find them. (KDS AV7-TF FD Trinitron)
Anyways, hot deal on the Syncmaster!

Staples is calling Onvia and being told they are out of stock -- thus, no price match. Tried 2 different CSRs.

I haven't bought much from Onvia.com, but recently I learned a little more about how their system works.

I ordered the IBM 45GB drive (thanks to a tip here) and a LinkSys switch. The switch came right away (couple of days), but the IBM drive didn't. After a few days, it appeared as "cancelled" on the order tracking page.

Their response to e-mail is awful, so I called the 800 number and sat on hold for a while. The person I spoke with explained that the inventory level fluctuates. When the inventory for a given item is gone, all open orders are cancelled. When the item is back in inventory, the orders are not reopened -- they remain cancelled.

Given that the drive was now back in stock, I asked that my order be reopened with the original price and she agreed. The drive arrived the next day!

It's possible that they are just playing games, because when the IBM drive reappeared "in stock", the price was $10 higher. In any case, it looks like it's possible to still get the deal if you're willing to wait on hold for a while.

Both the 950P and 955DF monitors are shadow mask (not Trinitron). The 950P has a normal curved screen, the 955DF has a flat screen. I have the 950P and like it very much. I also have the 753DF which is the 17" version of the 955DF (with a little lower screen screen resolution). The 753DF is a nice monitor also but the anti-reflective coating is cloudy. You can see the cloudiness when the monitor is off but does not seem to affect the picture when the monitor is on. I don't know if this is normal for a flat screen or is a defect.

Try this link to Samsung http://www.samsungusa.com/
Click on the IT products box, then on the monitors tab. This should get you to the right place.
