Actually,$169 at the bottom of the page it's available here.

You don't have to find a Office Depot on the solstice, and sign with blood on a rebate. Just profit from this hot deal.

My favorite cameras that use this format... Casio 3000ex, Canon S10, S20. It's much faster than Lexar CF media too.

Those people who ordered from the previous $169 price, were quite happy, and no complaints.

I think he was trying to stress there isn't any hoops to jump through on this deal. Prices must be falling. Was looking at this when I picked up the Canon S10 clearance deal and they were like $300 then.

I just checked the other things on that site. They all seem way overpriced. Especially the 199 for the 8mb flash card with adaptor. That should only be like 35-40 bucks. Seems strange that the microdrive would be such a good deal while the other items are so poorly priced.

Are you guys ordering just the drive for $169 or are you ordering the kit for $229?

Will this work with any digital cam that uses compact flash?

Will this work with my lexar compact flash reader or do I need to buy IBM's?

Thanks.

Prices on these are dropping fast. A local store in my area is selling the 1GB version for $399. However, $169 for the 340MB is a screaming deal.

Wolverine27...these only work in specific cameras. Make sure your camera can support it.

Check this link: IBM Microdrive Compatibility Matrix

This is a pretty good deal. But if you want to buy the 340 + PCMCIA adapter, buy it on Fleabay for 199. There's a guy who's selling them Dutch for that price.

Hi, all...

I saw the datavis deal and ordered last night... then I cancelled when I realized I could PM at Staples and use a coupon.
My total was about $155.
It also turns out that the Staples one includes the PCMCIA adapter (the CSR didn't read very carefully) and I don't think the datavis one does.

So call up Staples to PM and use a coupon off of techbargains... total around $155, shipped (they add $5 to match datavis), including tax.

Wolvie: your lexar reader probably wont even work with other brands of flash cards. 340MB drive is a type II card. My sandisk reader works fine with it.

SloppyB,

Thanks for the link...but I don't think that list is all inclusive as it sounds like they are in the process of ongoing testing...
From the website: "This list represents those devices tested with the IBM Microdrive and known to be compatible. New devices will be added as testing is completed."

SoundBoy,

My lexar reader is the "universal usb reader" version. It does work with other brands of compact flash as well as smart media. To read the film, the compact flash card is first inserted into a type II card and then into the reader.

This is an incredible deal. They normally go fior about 200-250 on eba%!

Edit: Staples does NOT come with the pcmcia adapter. It's just the drive. Item number: IM1015951

SZy:

Thank you. I brought the community here a fresh deal, $35 less than you can find it on pricewatch (???vboy???WTF) No rebates, not a repost and available to all.

BTW, it's still $169 for the drive. Datavision is a real store here in NYC, 6th ave I think. Generally their prices are not that spectactular.

Wolv: CF type II... that's the key. I posted a few compatible cameras. But FYI no consumer Nikons support it. What do you have?

Soundboy,

Thanks for the info...guess I'm SOL on this deal. I've got a Nikon 990. Appreciate the heads up and saving me the hassle of having to return it.

thanks again.

Wolv: No problem. It was really a mistake for nikon not to support this format. You should trade yours up for a oly e-10 ;)

BTW, ground shipping is only $5 so I'm changing the title to flaming. Thanks manic.

This is one of the reasons I got the Canon G1 instead of the Nikon 990. MIcrodrive support is awesome! I may jump on this. I think the new 1gb microdrive might be helping bring the price down... Though it's smaller capacity, the speed with my 160mb compact flash has been terrific.

Question, it the 35 difference to the comparable bare drive or to the travel kit? I prefer to not have to use my camera battery for data transfer.
