Was poking through the clearance electronics and noticed the Asylum GeForce FX 5600 256MB (not ultra) sitting in the clearance rack, with a tag of $100 even. This has DVI and TV-out, and is not a lame crippled "special" edition! Picked up 2 at the Mishawaka, IN store. These are new, not returns, as far as I can tell. I already have it installed and using it right now! :)

Some of the video cards were clearanced at my WalMart but none of them were as good as yours.
Some people could have some luck with this deal though.
Good post.

Gonna go get one right now. Just called the nearest location and told her to put in on hold. For those of you in the South Bay (California) area, the Long Beach location has a ton of them for $98+tax on clearance. Whooohoo!

Nice post!!

Wait, can someone please explain to me how is this hot? It's a 5600NU that's *slower* than a faster Ti4200? It's not *terrible* considering this is BM, but you're money is better spent on a Ti4X00 series card, or a 9600Pro/XT.

Not trying to thread crap, but I agree it's not *that* hot. A 4200 is cheaper and faster in the majority of tests.

Redo: I went to WalMart and took a look at the card. In the end, decided not to buy. Now that I read some of the other posts in here, I'm kinda glad I didn't. Anyhow, I did a search on pricescan and realized the ti4200's are more than the 4800's. Why is that?

I have a TI4200 64MB (with the faster RAM than the 128MB) and it's starting to crap out. Luckily it has a lifetime replacement, so I can have it repaired and have both, and give my spare machine a bit more beef. Despite what the benchmarks say, I'm getting better performance with the 5600, and I'll have DX9 features, as they creep in.
I agree you might find better cards, and it's not a lightspeed jump from a GF4TI series, but it IS a nice card, and is working for me just fine. As a matter of fact, I found a game that doesn't support 64MB cards, (Pirates of the Caribbean) so I found a nice low-cost replacement until the next gen comes and I will pony up the serious cash.
I'd recommend the 5600 over the TI4200 for anyone who's upgrading from GF3 or lesser. You're not going to find a better deal out-the-door at a local store, who will take it back if you don't like it, with no restocking fee. ;)

Bump for Monday. I've been using the card all weekend, and it's definately better than my old TI4200. Not leaps and bounds, but great for a value card...

5600 Ultra was available from Fry's for $104.99 last week. It should also be available online for similar price nowdays.

An OK deal since BB is carrying these cards for $140. However, I was unable to find anything better than a 5200 at my local WalMart.
