My wife's computer that is also running W10 and is also connecting wirelessly to the same router is not experiencing these problems so if you'd like to give some suggestions, keep that in mind.

I am experiencing several different problems. One was disconnecting when connected wirelessly. It appears I have that fixed. I installed the latest drivers from the Intel site for my AC-7260. (This is a laptop.) When I was losing connection I could not ping the router. Rebooting always solved the issue temporarily. But as I said, it has not disconnected since the drive upgrade.

I am having problems getting pages to load across a spectrum of websites. Sometimes they load just fine, sometimes they will not load at all, sometimes only partially. This is going on in both FF and Edge. When this is happening, I have experienced not being able to ping the website giving me the issue. But other tabs are loaded fully. When I try to ping, the prompt window just hangs. Nothing happens.

I have cleared caches and have flushed the DNS cache. I have also run a memory test for grins. I have a PNY SSD that I can't find a diagnostic for. I have run perfmon /report and don't see anything jumping out at me but I am inexperienced in interpreting what I see there. I have also run the troubleshooter built into W10 that prompts for a website to check for connectivity issues and I get the usual Windows WTF answer. Those troubleshooters are usually worthless so no surprise there.

I see nothing in the built-in Firewall but am thinking now that I should probably disable it as a test. I am running the AV built into the OS and I have had no issues for many years over the course of several operating systems. Lucky or aware is up for argument but the point I am making is that I don't suspect an infection of any kind.

A quick example. We're doing some major furniture shopping. Go to a site and it partially loads. In FF, I see in the lower left that it has hung on loading www.facebook.com I open another tab and can't get to facebook. My wife can and she's right next to me on her laptop. The other day I saw that much of the far Eastern portion of the U.S. was having Comcast issues, which I'm on. Maybe it's them and it's a timing thing that she can when I can't?

Thoughts?

Update the firmware on the router and or the modem. After update do a factory reset. Get the latest chipset drivers and related software from the MB web site also update the BIOS.

I think that you might have corrupted system files that are causing your issues. You should check your file integrity to see if anything shows up so you can specifically address any issues present.

Is it always the same sites?
Are you and your wife running on the same band (which one)?
Have you checked the wireless channel you are using? There could be too much traffic.

The built-in antenna may be going, or the device itself. Go get an inexpensive wireless adapter from a retailer. See if it gives you the same issues.
No, it's not the same sites - I think. I have a pretty small circuit of sites I usually go to but have been going to a lot of sites I typically don't go to what with all the furniture shopping.

No, we weren't. Her laptop is on N and mine can do N or AC. I recently changed to N and am experiencing the same problems but I've had a few days with zero issues in the mix. It's all very erratic and unpredictable. I know, none of that is of any help.

It's a Comcast combo. I will explain the situation. The furniture shopping is because we are having a new home built and will be closing on it the 31st of this month. Having moved 1500 miles, we have been renting for the past three plus months until the home is done. Not my condo, not my Comcast account. There are a fair number of wireless networks being picked up but nobody else is currently living around us. These are second homes for people that snowbird. Is it a channel issue? I guess I don't know if it's possible when the other networks are basically idle. The combo has not had it's default login changed and I do see that I can specify a channel. Channel 1 would be the best choice at this moment in time. I have Wifi Analyzer on my phone and Channel 1 has little utilization. I should mention that the combo is set to automatic and is on Channel 6. There are a quite a few in range using that channel. This is something I should explore. Whether the automatic feature is working or not I do not know.

I don't want to buy a piece of hardware I will have virtually no use for. I could hardwire very easily but the situation has improved greatly but is still erratic and I don't know what I'd learn from it.

I think I'll futz with the Channel a bit and hunker down and wait it out until we're into our place. The problem has greatly lessened and once we're in the new place I'll be on my own modem and my own router. Know entities.

Thanks for the advice. I had forgotten about the aspects regarding the Channel.

Edit: I've got to make sure to restore back any changes I may make because this is not our place. Foisting my customization's on the owners is not the right thing to do. They do spend several months of the year here.

Ah. Temp places add a (not) nice bit of complexity. But best of luck to you on the furniture shopping! Hope things go well in the new location.

I fixed the issue by doing Reset this PC in Recovery. If got so bad that it came down to trying that or a new laptop. Poking around in Event Viewer was pointing not towards hardware but software although I will admit my ignorance towards accurate interpretation of what I was finding there.

It's a bit confusing that the problem was intermittent in nature which made me think hardware. It's been four days with not even a minor hiccup so I'd say it's fixed.

Then it sounds like your registry had become corrupted and there are programs that can fix it for you without the need for a reset.
