I wonder how he would rate the Nazi flag.

"Excellent use of a swastika coupled with a blood red backdrop. A++"

It's sad that the swastika is now identified with Nazi Germany. It is actually an ancient symbol that means well-being and good fortune used by many countries such as India, Persia, and Greece.

<< I thought the circle on Japan's flag was the Rising Sun..... >>

It is, but it was the Naval Ensign & War Flag to which I'm referring.

<< this jagoff gets rated an F- in my book >>

Why? He tries to maintain imparitality. He gives some good reasons for his gradings. Of course, in the end we all know that one's preference isn't more important than another's.

Bad, very bad.

Too subjective if you ask me.

Some good flags got a bad score and some horrible ones a good score....

LOL, this thread is funny! How dare they give the US flag such a low score! They're obviously idiots!

Daytime bump for all who didn't get a chance to see the flags last night.

I still think all those 3 color palate-swaped European flags should get Fs.

Actually, looking at the numbers of comments there aren't many people saying that at all. Most (including me, but I also admitted the comments were amusing) are simply saying he rates some pretty bad flags as an A and some better ones below that. Yes, it's a subjective thing, but there is a certain objectivity that is possible when measuring creativeness. I don't think Gambia is really the best one out there. :p

<< *kat. <-- hehe doesnt care for the american flag much either. >>

<< GUAM: Name of country written on flag in ugly typeface. Notice that the M of Guam is larger than the other letters. I have given it this high a grade because it would actually make quite a nice tea towel. >>

LOL!

What a joke.

If my wife sees that Australia received a C grade, she's gonna be pissed!

How can rating art be anything but subjective?

Well, it's quite natural to be partial to one's own country's flag, still there are some glaring inconsistancies. For example, the Swiss flag is square, he cites this flag as having a "good shape". The flag for the Vatican City is also square, but somehow the Vatican City's flag has a "bad shape". I have no special fondness for the Vatican City, but the inconsistency is rather glaring. I also feel that the Union Jack (the British flag) deserves a higher rating. As for the US flag, well I personally prefer the Bennington flag over the current US design anyway so it's not a big deal to me.

This has got to be the most subjective, non-factual grading of anything.

C 55/100
commeng: too many stars
