FL Gov DeSantis at it again

Our dearly beloved Gov Ron DeSantis has come up with yet another way to deny the existence of Covid. First he stopped the reporting of covid statistics - if nobody knows how many people died, the deaths just didn't happen.

Now he has decided he wants to limit testing only to those who have symptoms and are elderly or at high risk of getting infected. And our surgeon general says "if you don't have symptoms, you're not a case." That's right - if you don't have symptoms, presto, chango, you don't have covid.

All this while because Fl has a 39% positive test rate and a 566% increase in new cases in the past 2 weeks.

So. All the asymptomatic will be able to run around freely infecting others at will with no contact tracing, no quarantining, no nothing since they don't have a case. That will take care of the problem. Sure it will.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Most of the deadly cases will be among those who voted for him.

I take a lot of flack from some here who say I have the problem because I see in humanity a death wish.

They have tried this before. If you do not test you do not have results. The plateau in cases over the last three days says maybe we have maxed out testing availability. I suspect therefore daily positives closer to one million a day in the U.S.

Uhh, hello?
There is a national shortage of testing kits. Supplies of them are dwindling and MANY localities are telling people to not get tested unless you have symptoms now. Called preserving what little stock you have left in hopes that more will arrive before you run out entirely.

Which has nothing to do with not reporting deaths. And that wasn't the rationale they gave so fuck them. Why do you consistently look to enable dishonesty?

I actually agree with to a decent extent. Same with the idea to change the definition of hospitalizations from ‘those hospitalized who have covid’ to ‘those hospitalized DUE TO covid’.

I’m of the belief that if you’re vaccinated this appears to be no deadlier than the flu, and we don’t randomly test for the flu. Cases used to be closely linked to both hospitalization and death and so they were informative as to the danger to the community. Now that they aren’t linked much at all anymore I’m not convinced of the value of widespread testing.

Yeah this is not a DeSantis thing. Our local mega hospital (who’s been running a nonstop drive thru test center since the pandemic began) also recently indicated that they would no longer allow anyone to just sign up for a testing appointment slot online—we’d have to call a doctor for a referral and they are only referring those with possible symptoms for Flu A/B, RSV and Covid (they’ve switched their PCR test to the panel version recently.)

And where are you located or what state are you in?

I responded directly to the topic of "Now he has decided he wants to limit testing...". Apologies if you got lost and cannot follow along.

People do and did get tested for the flu all the time. Not to the same extent as COVID, but there has been symptomatic and surveillance testing for the flu for a long time.

But nothing even remotely like what we are discussing here.

The lied about the cause of the problem. Why you give them a pass for that I have no idea.

Look, I don't care if you lie to yourself. Just don't expect me to believe you anymore.

That's future President Desantis to you!

And I've already apologized for being in the state for foisting people like Rick "should be in jail" Scott and Marco "water bottle" Rubio, got none left for this boob.

I honestly don't give a shit what he does at this point. He's not the cause for any of his idiocy, he's just a manifestation of the ignorance of the red parts of the state. It won't be easy to leave as I have business stuff here and family but I'm hoping to get out in a couple years. I know there are people around the countrywho see Desantis and the attitudes that make him possible and say "gimme that!" and are moving here, so no net loss I guess. Most of my extended family and their circles in MN and WI are pretty jealous of us in FL, they think he's got the "right stuff" :) Needless to say I don't talk much with any of them.

People get the government they deserve for the most part.

Ron DeSantis is a horrible person. He obviously never cared if any of the children in Florida schools got sick and died from Covid. Because no one should have to wear a mask or get vaccinated if they don't want to. Let everyone get sick and spend a thousand dollars on antibody treatments that the state makes available supposedly for free I think. The manufacturer of the Regeneron treatment is a huge donor to Ron DeSantis. So the state spends millions on treatment when everyone could have gotten vaccinated for free. I bet he is going to be really pissed when he can't peddle the antibody treatment any more and is forced to use the $5 Pfizer anti-viral pill. He hires an insane person to be Surgeon General in Florida. He should be removed from office because he represents a real danger to Floridians. What if this POS should become President? I shudder to think, a mini Trump but with more than half a brain. Too bad he is an evil person.

He definitely got covid. Guy loves to run his shit eating mouth, any period of silence would not be self-imposed. He's responsible for so many people getting sick and dying, a Herman Cain award for him would be a great victory for the entire state.

when there was NOT a shortage of testing kits the republican party was still trying to limit testing. It makes them look bad to have so many positives. Which is weird because all the red states have much worse spreading and they dont seem to care anyway. They just blame "Da Libruls" and it gets them votes and their Master Plan goes on normally.

Trying to get around possible mandates for businesses. But if they want to limit testing less people will be immune.
Once again defying the science, Florida’s new Surgeon General, Dr. Joseph Ladapo, recently issued an “emergency” rule basically declaring that a single positive COVID test, no matter when it was taken, proves that one has immunity from COVID in perpetuity.

Per legislation recently passed by the Florida Legislature and signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, this “natural immunity” will exempt employees from private employer vaccine mandates.

Immune forever! Guess we should all go out & get it & be done. Or do we all have to move to Florida too?

Didn't he get vaccinated? I thought he was just another conservative elite hypocrite?
