FJ Cruiser, yay or nay on this deal?

Umm, service records?

Brand new FJ Cruiser is 26k MSRP.......25.5k with 25k miles is AWFUL close (regardless of BS options, but I don't care for those, give me base and I'm cool)

If you REALLY like this car (seems like you do) it would be better to buy it new around that price (but that's just me)

Sorry bud, 26K MSRP isn't realistic. This is a 35,xxx MSRP car before the supercharger.

getting a no optioned FJ would almost be pointless, no 4X4, none of the extra "cool" features that these cars are known for. pretty pointless in my eyes.

You don't need power for offroading unless it's Baja racing. You need reliability and efficiency.

You don't "need" more than a shitbox to get to work, either..but that doesn't stop me from having 1000hp in my driveway.

How is a factory warrantied supercharger on a Toyota not reliable? And you "need" efficiency? False.

A supercharger increases torque, not just horsepower. Of course HP is also increased since HP is a function of TQ and engine speed. Since a supercharger doesn't make the engine run faster, it must be increasing TQ to create the increase in HP. So yeah, a supercharger could be used off road just fine.

Besides, FI just sounds so cool 😛

I'm sure the V6 has more than enough torque though: 239 hp (178 kW) at 5200 rpm, and 278 lb·ft (377 N·m) of torque at 3,700 rpm

Not to mention the fun value when driving on the street and the additional power when towing. I'll update tomorrow, may try to deal tomorrow on it.

Update.... bought it. 25K.

I looked and negotiated with two private sellers, and it was down between a 2010 Private seller FJ with same factory options (no supercharger of course) with a few add-ons. But he was stuck on 27.5K. All dealers I spoke with, pricing was 28Kish or a low mile 09-10 FJ.

Market is strong for these things around here for sure.

Anyway, I'm happy with the purchase so far. Going to add the factory toyota hitch to it to tow my small bass boat, but probably not much more.
