Fixing refresh in 41.09?

In this thread here someone gave a link to fixing the refresh rate on the new 41.09 dets, but I can't seems to find the article on the page. Can anyone tell me how/send me a more direct link to fixing the refresh rate problem?
 
another question: what's a good refresh rate setting? i tried 72 hz I think and my screen wasn't compatible. i'm using 1280x1024 on the desktop.
