Step #1: Restart and go into safe mode.. use either F8, F5 or hold down ctrl key to bring up startup menu.. choose # 3 for safe mode.

Win98:
Click on start, run type in msconfig... click okay. Put dot in selective startup remove checks from config.sys & autoexec.bat and checkmark from Load startup group items... then click on startup tab and put checks back into scanregistry & systray. Restart.

If that didnt work go back into safe mode, msconfig and remove checks from Load system.ini & win.ini. Restart.

If that didnt work then go back to step #1 and bring up startup menu.. choose command prompt only and run Scanreg /restore
Choose a date that says started next to it.

WinMe:
Click on start, run type in msconfig... click okay. Put dot in selective startup remove checkmark from Load startup group items... then click on startup tab and put checks back into scanregistry, systray & *statemgr. Restart.

If that didnt work go back into safe mode, msconfig and remove checks from Load Static Vxd's, System.ini & Win.ini. Restart.

If that doesnt work go back into safe mode then click on start, programs, accessories, system tools & system restore... and restore it to a previous date & time.
