I bought the Onkyo HT-S760 system that I was talking about in my other post and set it up w/ 3 speakers (front, left, right, bass) but iTunes won't recognize it at all (music playing, no sound) and WMP will only recognize the left, right, and bass. It's the system in my sig, Coaxial from the motherboard to the reciever.

Music is only 2.1

As for itunes not outputting via the digital connection. You may need to enable digital audio out or select the correct audio device in the software preferences.

It works now w/o problem but music is only 2.1? Then what's the point of computer speakers that offer 5.1? Gaming and movies?

Yup. Gaming and Movies are surround sound, Music is stereo

However I find some nifty DSP's can make surround music come out pretty amazing depending on the type of music. Generally though 2 Channel or All-Channel Stereo is the best way to listen to music depending on preference (all channel, meaning all left fronts and rears play left, rights play right, and center plays a mix)

There are also a few 5.1 music CD's. Most of the time included with DVD-Audio or SACD so that all of your players could play the disc (if only the lossy DD 5.1). I think they were popular back about 7-8 years ago. I have a sampler that I got free with something.

You can usually get all speakers working. The back speakers play the same as the front. The center either plays a mix or nothing.
