Can anyone say what port they are using for 2.1 speakers on a Asus A8N-E onboard sound? My wife just updated her drivers, and that didn't seem to help. I can't stand the auto-detect sound program crap that is on there myself.

The speakers worked when plugged into a Creative Nano 1gb mp3 player just fine. And they work when plugged into my laptop headphone jack. They just dont' work on her computer for some reason. Oh, and she has had headphones plugged into her computer, and they worked just fine.

Just posting in case there is anything dumb I missed. Also, volume in Windows in up, and not muted.

What port do the headphones work off of? the front port?

Make sure "Digital out only" is not checked in advanced sound properties.

You aren't using the HEADPHONE jack on the desktop for the SPEAKERS are you? I'm not sure if Klipschs are colour coded or not, but it should be green to green or whichever port is labelled Front. That's where mines are plugged into my soundcard and were plugged into my onboard.

Well, I found out what was going on, kinda. They didn't any of the ports when I set the speakers to two. But if I put it on 5.1, they work fine. Kinda strange. But now my wife tells me that she can't hear any of the voices when she is watching a movie, so I'm going to have to select another port. But I'm almost there... 🙂
