In my infinite wisdom, I did not uninstall my nvidia drivers from XP before I removed and sold my 6600GT. Now when I plug in my 6800 Ultra or my old FX5600, I get instant BSOD in windows, even in safe mode and VGA mode. How can I fix this without an OS re-install? Can it be done throught the recovery console? If so, how?

I'm dying!

Nope...recovery will not uninstall the old drivers, so if your bsod'ing prior to F8...that's about it.

I get to the windows logo screen after selecting options via F8, but then it blue screens.

That isn't a problem with drivers. Seems you screwed something else up or are OCing too far.

The drivers are the same for all of those aforementioned cards so there is no need to uninstall them.

Got frustrated and unplugged it for a half hour. Then I was able to get into windows long enought to set a chkdsk /r to run at next reboot. HDD had a bunch of errors which got repaired. Wasn't the graphics drivers after all, although I did reinstall them anyway. Dunno why some files were corrupt. All seems well now.
