help. i'm getting no sound out of my Asus a7n8nx nforce2. all my drivers are installed correctly. everything shows up under device manager and i've installed the latest nforce drivers. i'm plugging my speakers into the green port (also tried all the other inputs) and no sound. it seems like everything is ok, but no sound comes out whatsoever. when i play music, the sound graph comes out on the nvidia sound control panel. help! thanks

I wonder if your front-panel audio header lost one or more of its jumpers. In your manual, it's item #27 on page 5, the color photo of the board. The header should be jumpered like this:

Hmm, did you have sound working at any point? Do you have some headphones you could try?

Among its other features, the A7N8X-Deluxe has the onboard POST Reporter speech unit. If you plug in some headphones on the green audio-out jack, you should be hearing "System completed power-on self-test!" and "Computer now booting from operating system!" from the POST Reporter (these audio clips can be changed, if you'd prefer "The Force is strong with this one!" or something).

If you're not getting any audio even from POST Reporter, and it's enabled in the BIOS, then something's wrong and you should try taking the board out of the case and test it on cardboard.
