FIXED....XP error checking at every boot...

Everytime I reboot XP it checks one of my harddrives for errors, even though there are no errors. Is there some kind of trigger that's not getting turned off after the succesful error check?

No. That's the strange part, it's doing a complete proper shutdown. And it's not scanning all of my installed harddrives, usually just one or two. It never scans the C: (as it would during a bad shutdown) just my data drives.

Update.

I just tried to defrag it with diskkeeper, and it said: "CHKDSK is scheduled to run at next boot", so apparently, there is something that's not turning off the scheduled scan once a successful one is performed.

Have you recently installed any software or hardware? If you have Norton, try running disk doctor. What do you have on these other drives?

These drives contain nothing more than photos, downloads, meada files, etc.... No programs are installed there.

Gotta work today so I'll play with it again tonight.

Try defragging the drives. If there are any errors, i think that this could fix them. If not, try going to the manufacturers website to see of there is a disk check utility avaliable for download.

Good Luck

Fixed...

From the command prompt I ran CHKDSK x: /r

It took a long time, but afterwards it booted without running a scan.

Thanks for the replies crisp82.
