Hey all,

I know this isn't the best forum, but I really need help with this and haven't got a reply from the Network forum yet :(

Ok. I've ALWAYS had trouble getting PCI NIC's to work in my BH6 setup. So I just use a 3Com ISA NIC I've had for a while instead. It's only 10Mbit though. When I got my new computer (KA7) in March, I picked up a Linksys EtherFast PCI NIC and it installed perfectly and works wonderfully. I decided I'd pick up another Linksys PCI since the first worked sooo easily. Anyway, I decide to put the one from the KA7 (which I know works) into the BH6. I've tried PCI slot 2, 3, and 4 now and none have worked. In slot 4 it would cause my system to freeze cuz it was conflicting with my sound card and something else. The other two slots though it get's it's very own IRQ (5) and appears to install perfectly and everything (yeah, newest drivers). I go and setup the connection for my DSL (I have unlimited static IP's so all my machines are public) and enter in the IP/Subnet/DNS exactly how it was before with the ISA NIC. Nothing happens. I must've installed and reinstalled this thing a dozen or so times now varying little things and nothing is working for me. I swear it's just the BH6. I mean, it can't be me...

I'm running Windows 2000 Pro too if that matters, although in 98 and 95, I couldn't get PCI NIC's to work either. I really want it to work though cuz I've never witnessed 100Mbit transfers and I'm looking forward to it Any suggestions???

I know it's a problem within the PC itself. Two reasons...

1) The ISA works with same settings.
2) I can't ping my gateway (DSL Router) which is in my house like 10 feet away through a hub. I can't telnet into it either. And I tried raw IP's, not hostnames so I could rule out DNS as well.

Ok, now I've determined that it was my sound card the WHOLE time! Well, I'm not so sure it was just that. Maybe my NIC just really really wants to use IRQ 10. I really don't know. Now here's my problem.... I need to be able to dictate what IRQ goes to what device. That will let me play with it a bit more I think... But I've heard sound cards are real picky about the IRQ's they use? Any suggestions will be appreciated immensely!
