Every number I enter turns into a decimal.

16 becomes 0.16

142 becomes 1.42

I go to format cells -> number and the general number format is selected.

What the heck....

It's already in the "general" number format, so when I enter "16" it should appear as "16."

whats the content of the worksheet?

check your pm.. you can send me the file if you want

The contents are just mock business data for an excel class.

When I enter "16" it autoformats to 0.16

When I enter 16. (with the decimal point after 16) it stays at "16"

Yup, it worked. I just have absolutely no idea how it got that way. I was editing a spreadsheet and it was fine. After I got done and saved/closed it, I opened a new spreadsheet, and then the problem started appearing

Blackouts, fixed decimal places -- sounds like it's time for you to cut back on the drinking.
