I'm guessing the tc36 means 3.6 nanoseconds, which means its rated for 555mhz.
550MHz, same difference.

I suspect these chips are speed binned rejects that would not run over 225MHz (450MHz DDR) because I'll be damned if I can get passed 225MHz without artifacts in UT2003 and 3DMark 2001SE. Even tried aiming a fan onto the video card - can't get passed 225MHz. The card is rock solid, though, up to 225MHz.

I thought it was overkill to put 550MHz DRAM on a card with a default clock of 400MHz. Now it makes perfect sense....

I figure this post is a mistake but just in case anyone reads it... this info has nothing to do with this card.

Im using this card right now and RivaTuner and ATiTool both show the default memory speed is 600mhz. I duno why everyone who also owns this card say its 500....unless rivatuner and atitool are wrong

id say RIGHT THIS MINUTE this is one of the best cards for 99 bux shipped + it comes with CS:CZ.

i was able to get the core to 430mhz but after some benchies I always decide the 3fps isnt even worth it to OC.

but yeah windows and the drivers show this card as a 9600, the core is the R360, and the speeds are on par with a 9600PRO so its basically a 9600PRO for slightly less

Hey, Sparky. Have you even read the previous...seven...eight...ten messages before my message, particularly the message by ww4397 about 10 posts ago? "This card" is the Jetway R9600LE that has been the subject of discussion for nearly half of this thread (Samsung 3.6ns chips).

I'm betting nobody has ever accused you of being overly sharp?

yea i read them....and they also have nothing to do with this card...half the posts about this card are ppl saying its clocked slower than it actually is...or info about other cards that arent the card the topic is about.

and as for not reading....didnt you post back on page 2 how the 9550 is slower than the jetway poop card your pushing even tho you overlook the fact that evreyone keeps telling you this card isnt 250MHZ its actually 400mhz hmmm

You should clarify which card you mean by "this card"; the one that is being discussed in most of the thread or the one that people have stopped discussing 20 posts ago.

From Newegg:

Chipset/Core Speed: ATI RADEON 9550/250MHz
Memory/Effective Speed: 128MB DDR/400MHz

Its still listed as 250/400 for nearly a month now. If it weren't 250/400, surely Newegg would have changed the specs after a week, two at the most, but a month? Not likely.

This is the best deal in the Newegg catalog. Its a standard Radeon 9600 with default clocks and 128-bit memory interface. There is nothing faster below $90~$95 in the Newegg catalog.

Make sure its model # 96LE-AD-128C. Jetway has a crippled 64-bit version with model # 96LE-AD-128B.

Cool. thanks for the answer. off to New egg to get the 9550 Card. I'm thinking of getting the Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer Revision 3 from SVC for the card. Is the fan/heat sink needed for light gaming? Again sorry for the dumb questions.

No, you can sound like an idiot if you want. Your choice. The card being discussed for 10+ posts before you ignorantly proclaimed my post had nothing to do with "this card" is not this fantasy Radeon 9550XT that does not exist in Newegg's catalog. We were discussing the Jetway. An intelligent person would reasonably presume you could follow the discussion. We shall take note that you are incapable of doing so.

I dont think youd need the vga silencer with the gecube 9550XT as it has an adequate HSF already.

If you are willing to spend 100 get the 9550XT which is a 9600PRO but if you gota go cheaper the jetway 128bit R9600 is prolly your best bet although the extra $35 is the difference between doom3 @ 640 vs doom3 @ 1024

That's great. If only that were the card offered in the Newegg catalog....but it isn't.

The Digit-Life Review is of the GeCube "Radeon 9550 128MB Platinum Edition". Digit-Life lists the different 9550 models being offered by Info-Tek:
Today we are reviewing the GeCube solution, a brand of growing popularity. Solutions marked as "Extreme" on the box normally promise something pleasant made by GeCube. Below we can get an idea of the current line of video cards by this brand:

GC-R9550GU 128MB Extreme series
GC-R9550L-C3 128MB
Radeon 9550 128MB Platinum Edition <-- model being reviewed
GC-R9550-C3 128MB <-- model in the Newegg catalog
Newegg's catalog:

Model# GC-R9550GU-C3
Item # N82E16814240021

Specifications:
Chipset/Core Speed: ATI RADEON 9550/250MHz
Memory/Effective Speed: 128MB DDR/400MHz

Not the same card. Thanks for playing.

hah. Sorry I cant help it, this kind of ignorance is too comical...4 pages of this thread and it still hasnt sunk into your skull that this card does exist and is on neweggs site and the reviews on newegg show its 400mhz core and you still want to post neweggs mistake and call it truth. look at the box on newegg. now look at the box of the review...look familiar? do you think maybe neweggs part# could possibly be incorrect just like the specs shows 250/400mhz? wow you arent very bright.

Please note: due to manufacturer version updates, pictures may vary from the actual item.
Do you have to try before you can get so stupid, or does it come as effortlessly for you as it seems?

Newegg's mistake....for a month now.

LOL im done with you dude you are a freaking moron....someone else will inform you of your ignorance
I for one, own this 9550XT gecube card and it is exactly as pictured on newegg and on digit-life except the incorrect specs which if you read the reviews on newegg the very first person clears this up.
what does pictures may very mean anyway? that this card is really 250mhz? lol too funny ...

Well, at least you've been following the discussion pretty well for the past four or five posts, unlike before. I won't push it, though, don't want to cause you to have a stroke or something.

yes I've been following the discussion since the first post and unlike you I actually know what the topic of this thread is and can comprehend whats being said. keep trying though and maybe youll actually convince someone that this card is 250MHZ against everyone who owns it and says its 400mhz.

I'm sure you meant....except for the part where the discussion had almost exclusively been about the Jetway model for a dozen or more posts.

I know that's what you really meant to include.

http://forums.anandtech.com/me...0&threadid=1415234

its a thread about the jetway card you seem so fond of....go there...discuss it...gtfo of the thread you obviously know nothing of.
