Hi, I have a Maxtor 250gb 16mb cache SATA hard drive and I can't get it to show up in windows.
I have a K8V Se Deluxe mobo and no floppy drive.
I can see the Maxtor drive/model number at the start up when it shows the raid controllers or something.
Hitting tab would also lead me to a raid bios or something and i can see my drive in there.
I can't see the Maxtor hard drive in the motherboard bios and cannot see it in windows any where.
Is there any suggestions on what I should do besides getting a floppy drive?

If I have to get a floppy drive, is there any place to get one really cheap? Cheaper than Newegg's $10 shipped floppy drive.

Edit: *I got it to work now*
Just needed to plug it in the right spot lol.

Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management and start the Computer Management console. Now go down to Storage > Disk Management like in this picture and see if your new drive is listed. If so, right-click the white bar that represents its capacity and you can probably figure out what to do from there :)

May I ask why you even bought SATA instead of nice normal PATA? Just curious :p

As for fixing your problem here, start by going into your BIOS and setting your Promise controller to its IDE mode (as opposed to its RAID mode) and then make sure the drive is plugged into the fitting marked PRI_SATA on the motherboard. Now start Windows, go to Windows Device Manager and make sure the Promise controller is listed normally (no yellow ! or ? on it), then go to Disk Management again and see if she's listed now.
