Hi, I just upgraded my computer and I was wondering why doesn't WinXPs Device Manager display the Primary or Secondary HD Controller under "IDE/ATAPI Controller"?? Also the HD detected is a Seagate ST340016 A SCSI Disk Device under "Disk Drives" but I have a Seagate Barracuda IV IDE Drive.

Here's what I got:

AMD Athlon 2500+ Barton
MSI Model K7N2 Delta-L nForce2 Ultra Motherboard
512MB Kingston 2700 DDR RAM
Seagate Barracuda IV IDE Hard Drive ST340016A
installed the latest nForce Drivers from Nvidia site
Lite-On 16X DVD
Samsung 32x CDRW
WinXP Home

Anyone else have this problem? The computer is working fine but I would just like to make sure that my drives are in DMA mode and not PIO. What is listed under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" is only NVIDIA nForce IDE Controller, nothing else.

Should I just go by the saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"?

Oh I know if you use those windows sees them as scsi devices. Well if its working I wouldn't worry about it. You could benchmark the drive to check if it's running in dma.

Fixed!!! Woohoo!!

I just upgraded to the new nForce Drivers today (2.45) and I now see both Primary and Secondary Controllers in Device Manager. XP also now sees the proper drives as IDE and not SCSI. It must of been a bug with the older drivers.

Thanks everyone for all your input/advice!
