For the past couple months, my computer has been totally erratic, taking nearly a minute to open/install programs, view images, and load URLs I get in emails. Couple that with periodic freezes and stutters that continued even when I upgraded from a Celeron 333/500 to an Athlon 750..

Well I took a guess that somehow it HAD to be a MS product causing the trouble. I start my MS elimination by ditching Outlook and installing Eudora. Now not only do I get my mail about 3000% faster but my computer's resources and speed have ENORMOUSLY increased. Huh, look at that.

I'd use Eudora too, after seen their latest product if only they could decently import my addressbook... I cant find any humor in correcting 100+ entries after they have been imported and all messed up in the process. I tried, but said forget it.

So if anyone knows how to import outlook 2000 addressbook in a way that all fields end op at the right places in eudora, lemme know. :)

I just started to use Eudora too... anybody have any suggestions on good newsgroup readers (ie, NOT bloated)?

As far as newsreaders, there is only one imo: Forte Agent, or its freeware brother Free Agent.

That's nothing, I fixed 100% of Windows instability in 30 sec ! Login as "root" -> "fdisk /dev/hda" -> "t" -> "1" -> "82" -> "w" -> "swapon /dev/hda1" Operation must take place under linux. After that you should have 100% stable (read as "non-existent") Windows, what was installed on primary partition of the first (IDE) hdd. Sorry guys, guess I'm just in bad mood tonight :(

Outlook Express is really fast and has integrated Newsgroup stuff. I don't find it bloated at all, and it's a better product than Eudora.

However, all MS software is intertangled, and messing up one part can tumble a stable foundation. I now use the GHOST software to backup my BOOT partition once I get it just right, and then I can get back in about 10 minutes.
