Fix moderate/deep scratch on plastic casing?

I just bought a boxset of DS9 DVDs and it came with a scratch that looks like someone ran a razor blade down the spine of it.
Anyway to fix it?
The only thing I tried so far is the toothpaste trick but that didn't work.

Generally it is. I think the average intelligence on these boards is higher than the sum of the intelligence(s) of the employees at any store.
