Burger King's OLD fries were good- but not nearly as good as Five Guys.

They have since changed fries, and they are now shit. Jack in the Box also changed their fries, and they appear to be identical. They're now on-par with, say, Sonic or Wendys, aka worst in the industry.

The FG burgers aren't worth arguing for, though.

Five Guy's fries are good, but I don't go to them for their fries. Their burger's are better than most , but you gotta pay more obviously.

Burger King and Sonic is straight crap.

Wendy's has decent burgers though. How do they make their bacon so crispy!?!?!! Amazing. :awe:

Have a Five Guys here in Laurel, MD. Good burgers but the fries were mediocre. Not crispy enough and too greasy. The free peanuts are great, though!

Overall, the burgers are a definite step up from other fast food fare.

Oh, and I've been to In 'N' Out twice. The first time was somewhere in California and the second time was in Las Vegas. Not too impressed with the first outing but the Las Vegas offering was outstanding. Only ordered whatever might be considered a "small" combo but it was fantastic and so tasty I didn't need more.

I like Five Guys as you can get a ton of toppings but yes I prefer In-n-Out for a good burger. Also In-n-Out's frys suck even well done.

My local Wendy's must just suck. I tried the baconblasterkablammerkegerator thing like twice, and both times it was a bunch of soggy, limp bacon on their beef patties which just seem dry and flavorless.

Crispy bacon is indeed awesome, but it's a rare bird in fast food.

Runner-up is 'absurdly-large' bacon. I think it was Chili's that had some bacon burgers with 'thick cut' bacon. It was like a pile of country ham (but with a little sweetness) on top of your sandwich. Odd but glorious.

Oh, and I'm a total fry-whore. I likes me some crispy potatoes. I was at a sandwich shop in Atlanta a little while ago, and they had 'garlic parmesean' fries or something. Fuckin' awesome.

Anyone else try Elevation Burger out?

Not as good as Five Guys IMO and much more expensive. Fries suck in comparison.

I would love to try an In-n-Out, but that's west coast only.

The bacon on my burger was crispy and in large amounts.

The stuff from Chili's was amazing! Dont know if they still have it but if they do I need to get me some.

Every Wendy's in the area I go to has perfect bacon. Guess you are unlucky with that. Sucks because it's AMAZING.

You have to order fries from Five Guys the right way: Extra crispy... I occasionally do cajun, or even double cajun as well.

How are those? I wanted to try but since it was my first time I wanted to get the orginal ones.

It's nothing more than fries sprinkled with Lawrys season salt. People are easily impressed when it comes to food.

Are you sure this was the first time your wife has enjoyed Five Guys?

So you think Burger King is good? :hmm:

For the price, it is hard to beat the Whopper.

Thing is, I can go to a local eatery and spend the same as I would at Five Guys and I would get a better burger.

If anyone lives in a town where they can't get a burger that is better than the ones Five Guys has, I feel sorry for you.

The point about a Whopper is that it is a low cost product. And it is pretty damn tasty for the price.

The peanut oil ruins the fries. They taste horrible.

I love their food and fast food in general. But it is greasy. I feel it in my throat afterward. Can't say the same for stuff like Taco Bell or other burger places.

I'm always taken back by these threads when some proclaim this and that burger are "crap". I'll eat a burger from just about anywhere.

I've never gotten soggy fries there. Soggy/greasy means the oil wasn't hot enough...operator error.

My burger opinions:

'Great' - only diners, and as I remember, Backyard Burgers

'Good' - Carl's Jr. Six Dollar (hawaiian, chili cheese), Chili's

A little better than average - Five Guys

'OK' - McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's

Most overrated: In n Out

Worst: Sonic

With Five Guys, my reaction is 'I can't find something wrong, but it just lacks flavor and seems 'ok'. It's just 'there'.'

Anyone remember Farrell's ice cream parlor in southern CA? Incredible burgers.

The other day, I noticed that the Five Guys iOS app had an update, and the update notes said that they added new menu items. I looked, and apparently, they have a new Small Fry option. I got that last night, as I didn't want many fries, and it's probably about as many as you would expect. The cup is around 30-40% smaller... about the size of those free water cups that places will give you. The only problem? The price. It's $2.29 vs. $2.79. You're definitely getting far less fries, but you don't pay much less for it.

It's nothing more than fries sprinkled with Lawrys season salt. People are easily impressed when it comes to food.

Don't be so damned daft! They actually use Cajun seasoning. I put Lawry's seasoned salt on my fries after I get them from Five Guys, and it tastes nothing like the Cajun seasoning. I just use the seasoned salt instead of normal salt because I prefer a bit of extra salt on my fries.

Thats it? I do that at home!

Just ask them for cajun seasoning when you pick up your order. They should just give you a little cup of seasoning and you can try it out.
