5 guys is great. Their burgers are good, but the hot dogs are better. I'm not a huge fan of their fries - they tend to be excessively greasy at the two locations near me.

I'll put it this way. I eat very little fast food anymore, but if you asked me what I wanted, I'd take 5 guys. I like In N Out too, and will go there twice if I'm out on the west coast for a week, but I gotta give the edge to 5 guys for having a little bit more variety and kickass hot dogs.

compared to other "fast food" places it is on the upper end of the scale

a combo at wendys is like $7 or $8, at five guys its like $9 or $10.

thing about 5 guys too is if you go with someone else, you can split a 'small' fries and still have some left over between the two of you.

and like others have said, it's not really 'fast food' in the traditional sense. they make the patties for you there, they aren't frozen patties that are shipped that way.

like with anything, you get what you pay for ... but i didn't realize $9 or $10 is 'pricey' for a meal now a days. that is pretty much the standard when i go out to eat lunch at work now a days at chipotle, cosi, noodle company, subway, perfect pita, etc.

when you can get 2dbl cheese burgers for 2$ at BK and MCds it is pricey, however you have to forget quality of food and all that. im not saying its like super expensive but it does cost more then the shit from other places. yes its better and no i don't have an issue paying for it

Have one being currently built near me. I'll be sure to hit it up after the initial hype and floods of people dies down and wait times are reasonable. I've heard that the burgers are supposed to be excellent.

well yea if you are comparing 5 guys burgers to double cheeseburgers at mcdonalds ... then you need to get your tastebuds checked heh. if you are that concerned, might as well go buy ramen noodles.

yea between 8-10 dollars for lunch is pretty standard.

i guess i am willing to pay $1 or $2 more for a quality of product instead of eating mcdonalds, bk, taco bell, or wendys whenever i have to eat out.

It's the fries that are expensive... if you get just the cheeseburger, it comes out to $7.5 after taxes[in NY]

I got the fries the first time just to try it out, but I usually never order fries if the option were available anyway.

Even the cafeteria at my corporate campus is like $9 or $10. Where do you live?

IIRC he lives in Boston, or one of the burbs (I think hes moved since i mailed him something a few years ago... at least i think it was him). as i used to live there even the cheapo sandwich places are gonna cost you 6-8$ for a drink + sammy

I just got a hot dog last time I was there; first time I'd tried it. I wouldn't get it every time, but it was quite good.

Its a good burger. Its relatively quick service and the fries are abundant. Great combo for high ratings.

Still haven't tried Five Guys, but one of these days I will.

Champps has 1/2 price burgers on Monday, their Pepperjack Bacon Stack really hits the spot. 2x 8oz patties, cheese, bacon, waffle fries ... and it's like $6. Sooo goood, and an awesome deal. I plan to go there in about 2 hours.

Five Guys is pretty damn good, but Backyard Burger's Big Chipotle Burger is simply superior. It may not be as big, but it's cheaper and beats it out in taste. Surprised to not see the chain on there!
