Shake Shack sucked when I went there in New York City, except for the milkshake, that was good.

Shake Shack sucked for me too. Vegas location.. burger was incredibly salty and the custard was no where near as good as I've had elsewhere.

They opened a Shake Shack in Atlanta but I haven't had a chance to go. I've been watching their stock and it's interesting how hot the fast food restaurant stocks are right now. I think that bubble is more interesting than the actual food itself.

McDonald is testing out "Create your taste" burgers at select locations. You pick your patties, bread, toppings, type of cheese, and sauce. I had the default Cali style burger with guacamole and corn chips on the burger and it was pretty good. But you can custom create just about any burger you want. You get a beeper and the server brings the burger to your table. They put the burger and fries in separate metal wire baskets. I don't think it's going to work as it's far too complicated to retrain your average McDonald's customer but the company seems to acknowledge the premium fast food casual market and is trying to adapt.

Are the ingredients any better than your run of the mill McDonalds? McDonalds has managed to make every mean feel the same after eating it. Doesnt matter what I eat, still the same crappy feeling 30 minutes after.

They don't even need to do that. Their food just sucks. You can just taste the mass produced processed-ness of it all.

In-N-Out actually cooks their food and at a lower cost than a Big Mac combo.

strange i've been to 5 different locations in the NY Metro area. Quality control was good, burgers were equally delicious at all the locations. You should try again.

truth be told some of us do not

Stop eating out for a year (or more) and you'll have enough to money to buy an awesome grill. I've got an older Charboil made of cast iron that rocks a burger like nowhere else.

I think so. It's certainly different. But I don't know if I'm the best person to answer that since unlike most here, I like McDonald's. My order is pretty much always the same. Quarter pounder with cheese with medium fries and Dr. Pepper. But the McDonald's location I went to for lunch was having the promotion of free fries and drink with the "Create your taste" burger purchase so I tried it. They gave me a coupon for six more trips so I plan to use it before I go back to my usual order.

When I turn on any finance show all I hear is shake shack stock. How is this thing so astronomically high.

Because I am convinced modern business is less about a product and a customer and more about investors. Investors have become the customer regardless of the product being produced.

Still have never been there myself I guess, the wife has.

I can clog my heart better at home if I'm in the mood I imagine :)

They are opening a Shake Shack in the mall I frequent. I can only imagine it will fail. There is an Epic Burger that is hardly busy in the same mall. They also just opened an entire store dedicated to hot sauce... Wtf?
