Fitted sheet and flat sheets

Both. They are more comfortable than anything else you could have next to you. They let you choose your temperature throughout the night(cover + sheet for high temp, sheet for medium temp, nothing for low temp). I can't think of any reason someone wouldn't want both.

I agree 100%. My wife OTOH absolutely hates top sheets. D: She only wants a 4-inch thick down comforter on top of her and kicks it off/pulls it up 1,842 times during the night to regulate her temp. I've tried many times to break her of this foul, inconsiderate habit, but to no avail.

Unless it's 60F in the room, I'm hot. So our bed has a top sheet that is double folded over onto my side, and this mega-huge comforter that looks like a mobile snowbank double folded onto her side of the bed. She's happy. Me, not so much. Everytime I roll over I roll into this snowbank. 😱

Mine: Floor > box spring > mattress > fitted sheet > me > blanket.

Flat sheets always get in the way or fall off the bed, etc. Only usable if the bed is made every day (and fuck that shit)

Just choose your blanket accordingly, and adjust how much you are covered to adjust your temp.

My two main blankets are softer and feel better against me than sheets...

u don't know what a duvet is?

hint: it's not pronounced the way it looks

To me, there are sheets & blankets. I don't know what "duvet" is, and I think "comforters" sound stupid.

You must be doing it seriously wrong. You tuck the flat sheet in at the bottom and about 1 foot up the sides. That way, it doesn't move (unless you move it). It isn't in the way since you don't tuck it in all the way up the sides like hotels.

Also, you never have to make the bed that way. I've been doing this for decades without a sheet ever getting in the way or falling off the bed and I only make the bed when I wash the sheets (roughly once a month). Making the bed more often is a waste of time and helps breed bacteria (the warm moisture you left is a perfect breeding ground and beds need to be unmade for them to dry properly).

I didn't know it was optional to use both... The fitted sheet protects the bed, and the flat sheet protects the blanket. I always use both.

I believe this is the correct answer. The flat sheet keeps you from having to wash the quilt/blanket every week which would ruin it pretty quickly.

Platform->mattress->heated mattress pad->fitted sheet->me, wife, two cats->flat sheet->down comforter->3-4 more cats

frame -> box spring -> ruffle thing -> mattress -> fitted sheet -> me -> comforter.

If it's too warm then I'll use a flat sheet instead of a comforter and if it's cold I'll use both a flat sheet and a comforter.

I have a standard queen size bed. According to Wikipedia, that is 80" long. I am about 77" tall. Unless I sleep with my head against the wall, generally my feet hang off the edge of the bed. With my feet hanging off the edge of the bed, my sheet pretty consistently gets pulled out within a couple of days of use.

So..... Hi Shorty

Really, there's nothing that says that you couldn't use a large flat sheet on the bottom (say, a queen or king sized on a full sized bed), then a normal sized flat sheet above, but why would you?

A fitted sheet is designed to grip your mattress, and be less likely to pull out. A flat sheet goes on top because.......well, because your bed would look silly with the flat sheet below, and the fitted sheet above! 😉

Many hotels use tucked-in flat sheets as bottom sheets.

Fitted sheet only? (Like the one that goes over a mattress right?) I can't stand the flat sheet shit. It fucking bunches up and shit. I can't stand having blankets in the traditional fashion where you have them all nicely put. I fucking rip that shit apart and snuggle all in there how I want, making the blankets conform to my body and stuff. I never make my bed though... It's not worth it... Doesn't even look good.
