so i finally decided to get 1 to try out. and being cheap, i got it used.
the Fitbug Orb does not work without a subscription number!!! and where can you find this number? only on an original retail package. i contacted the company and for whatever reason, they are reluctant. great way to discourage resell.
so the Orb is just sitting here. no way for me to know how many steps i took because there is no screen. everything is through a smartphone. even after borrowing someone's subscription number, i got the app on andoid phone. and the app is buggy as hell!

does other fitness tracker require a subscription number too? should i get a Fitbit Zip? i just need something basic since my company pays us to be healthy. only Fitbit and Fitbug trackers can be uploaded through the system to track us.

update. i got the fitbit zip used. works within 5 minutes of setting up along with the android app. wow. no wonder it costs more.

I'm anxiously awaiting the Jawbone Up3. Been enjoying my Up24, just wish it had a HRM!

My Garmin 920XT has a fitness tracking feature. I have zero interest in using it for that (I bought it to track my training and triathlons). Can I ask what I'm missing? I do enough running and riding (and soon swimming) that I don't think I need to worry about how many steps I'm taking. I never use the elevator and am plenty active. What good does it do to know how far I've walked when I already know how far I ran? I'm sure I'm missing something, but I just don't get it...

im active myself too. but i needed a cheap one to keep track of steps as proof. our company pays us to be active so i figure why not get free money. if your company has a plan like mine, you should definitely take advantage of it. https://www.powerofvitality.com
