fishing tackle

So I picked up the new fishing vest from Columbia
Henery III Vest

Cool thing about this is that there is a pocket in the back big enough for a 13"x9" bait box . I like the bass pro shops 3.99 box.

Throw in some Yum dingers 4" and 5" with some Gamakatsu size 2 and 3 finess and regular EWG hooks.

Get some 4.5 inch tubes, a few 1/8 and 3/8 spinnerbaits and a few rapala original crank baits and you have everything you need with you with no tackle box to lug around.

Anyone else here into fishing?

whenever I get the chance, yeah. No vest here though; instead I've got a soft tackle box with a couple of those clear plastic bait boxes in it. Plastic worms are usually my bait of choice, though sometimes I'll use a little crankbait or a crapie-jig sized spinner bait. I like to fish with light gear (6- or 10-lb test) most; I usually only bring the bigger gear out when I go bait fishing.

I think I have a prefrence for light action setups too. I guess I meant plastic works when I said yum dingers. Basically a rippoff of the senko palstic worms.

Do the plastic worms still melt plastic tackle boxes?

Not the ones I've got now. I think they've changed how the boxes were made; the worms should still be the same. I did have a box when I was little that that happened in though 😛

Word, I just got back from a trip to Cape Hatteras a couple hours ago. Did a little surf fishing with the fam, caught some small blues, puppy drum and flounder. Saw a guy rig a monster cobia on our last day, damn thing fought him for 45 minutes, he was gonna cut the line cause he thought it was just a skate. Fishing is fun when you're actually catching stuff haha.

I'd love to go ocean fishing some day 🙂 Living in St. Louis makes that a bit difficult, though.

Nice, I need to get a decent fishing vest. I just picked up a cheap fly rod to replace mine, which suffered an unfortunate meeting with my mother in one of her cleaning frenzies. She tried to make it fit into the closet without disassembling it, and succeeded only in snapping the top 6" off.

Last time I built up a decent tackle box I let my friend borrow it for a day of fishing he was going on and he lost it.

I haven't really gotten back into it to much since then, this was about 2 years ago now.

Im gonna go try it out on some river smallmouth fishing this week.

nice catch NL5. I'd love to bring in some Salmon. We do get some nice Rockfish around that size though here in MD.

🙂 I see you're another person who appreciates the gamakatsu hooks. I don't know what it is, but I seem to do much better hooking bass with those than any other brand I've tried.

I am a little bit. My dad loves fishing. He usually goes to Bull Shoals Arkansas with his friends (we are from IL so its a long car ride)
